I just looked at the Ravelli, and I must admit the fact that they are so tall is impressive to me. I will see if I can get one with a ball head and carbon. Thanks.

I think that is a good choice in the H1. My only question is that really going to do the job or do I need to H2,3 or 4. As with the camera I was going to go for the Canon 7d but II realised that the 60d was perfect for my needs. Same sort of thing with the mic. If the H1 is great then cool but if I need the 2 3 or 4, I will get it.

Hi all, I have obviously gone with the 60D and I am extremely pleased. Thanks to all of you who helped me choose. I am now exploring all of the modes on the camera and have come to the HD Video mode. I have been told that the mono sound/mic on the camera is useless and I have to agree. Although I am looking at creating more imagery that videography, I appreciate the two just as much at the moment - either that or its just the novelty of being able to video!! So I am now wanting some advice on the best mic to buy. I would ultimately like a mic to plug in and automatically record sound and video together, but from what I've heard either its not possible, or is Extremely pricey. So I've been thinking an external mic and then using Final Cut Pro to sync video with audio. I'm just stuck on what to buy. Obviously something compact. Does the Zoom H1 sound good. If not any suggestions, and while on the topic, any particular tripods I can buy that are better than others?? You would have picked up by now i'm a newly but only for a short time I hop. Anyway hope you can help!!

Ok then, as I said, I am still very new to this. To be quite honest most of my photos are going to be of people places and events including some basic sporting (I coach a boys soccer team). I feel like wide landscape style photography would really be something I would utilise. As I mentioned before I assume there would not only be 1 lens i could use. I suppose this is Ok because I can see myself getting multiple lenses one day. At least one to start with would be good though. Hope this helps.

Ive just come back from the show and I have been told the best way to go is like I chose the 60d and instead of the 15-85 to go for the 18-200. What do you all think. Also which memory card should I go for. 1000X 150MB/S sounds like the way to go in a 16 or 32 g am I ok with this choice?

I'm just about to leave for the camera show in Melbourne, and I appreciate your comments on my choice. I can't wait to now find the best price. Should I do with ebay overseas or spend the extra money and go with a store. Decisions decisions decisions!!

Guys I have pretty much decided on the 60d. I suppose everybody makes great points and in terms of bridge v dslr, there are a lot of pros and cons. I really just want to get a great sharp image in both sporting and everyday scenes, low light as well as lots of clear zoom and micro if possible. There is no lens that could cover all of those things well i guess. I am looking at the 15-85mm lens. I hope this is going to be the right choice. I'm off to the show tomorrow so we'll see. What do you guys think of the choice and any suggestions about the lens??

After some thought I have decided to look at the links you guys gave me and will be looking at either the canon 60d or 600d. Now the only thing is which one and with what lenses. As long as if i get stuck I can still use them on auto I'll be happy. What do you guys think??

I think I need to do that and go into the shop and see for myself. It's either going to be between a bridge or a dslr. I will definitely take on board your comments. I appreciate them. Thanks
