[quote=Dan Ellis]I don't remember specifically where I got that one, I think it came along with something else I ordered a few years ago. However I looked on Amazon just now and typed in Nikon 18-200 lens rubber focusing ring and it brought up several choices most less than $10. It does make turning that ring easier to find by feel and easier to turn. The one that I have has a label on it called Camdesign and it says its actually for a 70-200 lens but it works fine on the 18-200 and probably many others[/quo

Thanks muchly Dan
Will check it out.

As an aside,................I have the D7100 and....I really like the images it produces as well.

Question Dan,.....Where did you get the nice fit blue rubber focus grip???,...I'm using small rubber bands used for banding lobster claws,.......appropriate since in live in down east Maine,....lol....about $8.00 for a bag of 500 bands (for me a lifetime supply),..a bit tight but have worked okay.
Thanks muchly.

The only feature I wanted was a built in stop watch for night photography.

Found and bought a nice Casio,....with a night light built in and a ten year battery,....$23.00.

Has other features as well too.

Has worked like a charm.

Spending part of my working career in R & D I soon realized that the consumer (public or otherwise),...in one way or another is always being sold an interim (the current prototype) of any given product.
It's considered progressive product improvement and part of ongoing new and improved technology.
Especially frustrating when the original product was more than perfectly adequate as it originally was.
As Jerry states,....very frustrating when doing self repairs to save on co$tly service.

I remember when I was growing there were local " All Service Repair Shops",..that fixed broken household items,..(radios, toasters, motors, amplifiers, televisions and such),...at very reasonable prices,...then slowly....solid state electronics,...printed circuits, micro chips and such infiltrated the component market,...eventually making those repair shops obsolete.

I still have and use regularly,.. my mom's early 1950s chrome Sunbeam toaster that automatically lowers bread, toasts it to the desired doneness, turns off and ejects the finished toast.....all automatically.
It can easily be dismantled and via adjustable metalic points (like that of an old auto's distributor's points) it is quickly fixed like new,.....no built in obsolescence, rather,...well designed,....built to last and last and last.

I can highly recommend the Voigtlander Ultron 40mm F/2 pancake lens.
I have had the Nikon mount version for quite a few years and in my opinion it is an excellent performing optic, excellent in my nature/landscape work,....very comfortable and easy to work with.
I use it often with the camera's on board pop up flash because of its easy quick focusing when shooting people type occasions.
Its short length profile makes it ideal for comfortable carrying as a walk around lens as well.
It is a mechanical operation only lens built very solid,...not an auto focus,....great for my work since I only shoot manual mode using a Nikon D810 or D800E.
Hope my experiences are of interest and useful in your search.

The images are outstandingly sharp as well,....IMHO.

I'm currently running Windows 10 PRO on a brand new build I just completed Jerry,....Microsoft shows you how to create a free bootable USB thumb drive installation operating version for evaluation purposes indefinitely,...on any computer,...............later you can activate it (by purchasing a legit copy of Win 10 and entering its legit activation KEY #,......do it before Jan 2025),....and you can skip Windows 11 and get for free > whatever Microsoft version comes out next,....Ver 12 or whatever Microsoft calls it?????,......or just continue running the fully operational Windows 10 evaluation mode for as long as you like.

As long as you do not mind an occasional "nag" message on your desktop,....for you to to activate it.

That's what I'm doing for now till I see what Microsoft has in mind before purchasing my legit version w/ key #.

I can reinstall my evaluation Win 10,....umpteen times at (no co$t,....right off the USB drive) while experimenting with any of features I like while deleting features I'm not interested in,......this way I'm trying while enjoying different innerational alternative schemes of "leaning out" my Windows 10 final size on my operating system C: drive.
Another thing I am not "branding" my new motherboard bios with any imbedded identity of any kind till I am ready to do so.
Here's the link to create your own USB bootable Windows 10 installation onto any computer free and legal thru Microsoft indefinitely.............https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Ps,......Microsoft also does this with Windows 11 version as well

A very nice alternative to committing any $$ at this time too.

Just my two cents.
