I just returned from the Alaska cruise, I used my 18-140 most of the time. I did use my 70-300 for several long shots of mountain goats and eagles. Be sure to take you tripod. Great trip!!!
I use the 18-140 as my walk around lens.
I will be leaving for a 15 day trip to Seattle (one week) and then cruise to Alaska for another week. Can anyone tell the must places to press the shutter button?

You may want to check out Amazon, I picked up a gun Nikon battery for my D5000 for a fraction of the cost that B&H or Nikon chargers.
Get PSE 11, it is an update to PSE 10. Has a few new features. Plus PSE 11 has a outstanding price right now. I upgraded to PSE 11 for $49.00 at COSTCOs.
I use a Nikon 18-105, great lens for the cruise you are going on.
Photoshop Elements has a great organizer and you also get a excellent photo editor.
I have read several books from professionals and most recommend just RAW, however, I have a DVD from Nikon and the speaker recommends both RAW and JPEG, and this is that I do. My wife like to take the JPEG and get them printed without any PP. I use Adobe Camera Raw and see what I can do to make them better. If I go on a shot and take pictures for just me I only use RAW. For now I still have tons of space on my hard drive. I know at some point I will need to delete for copy to a DVD. With that said I will save the RAW and PP copies and delete the JPEG. My two cents.
