Getting close to retirement age and can't wait until I have more free time to pursue photograpy. Mother of 3 grown sons. Picked up a Nikon DSLR about 5 years ago. Began to take photo classes and then got bit by the bug. Now I often join a core group of 4 other photograpy enthusiates to travel to local sites to hone our skills with a very talented panorama instructor. I love photographing landscapes and only now am I getting into wildlife. Have not tackled portraits other than candids. I get lots of good tips from this Forum.

The first shot, a yellow crowned night heron, is not the best but wanted to show the breeding plumage, this was a little far out of range for me. There was a mating pair flying from spot to spot, always out of range. I will keep any eye on them.It was a nice morning on the bayou

Excellant again!! Can you tell me what the first bird is?

thanks

Ran into this beauty this morning. The blue on his beak was like a neon blue. I walked with him for an hour and enjoyed his comany. We were so close, when he caught a fish and brought it up on the sand I could only get head shots, or I would have had to run backwards

Excellant!!! Beautiful colors and Sharp.

No worries my friend...it is all fun and games until someone gets an eye poked out with a beach ball.

I would just rather see pointless arguments about f-stops and ISO, Nikon vs Canon (suck it Canon :D kidding I am just a biased Nikon guy) and other crap like that...

And just to make everyone feel better....I am attaching this picture...I didn't take it, but it makes everyone feel better

LOL, that's good pic, well now I know that we can be friends, I'm a Nikon man myself.

Totally legal they give 4 tags for turkey along with 2 doe and buck tags

Sorry, I don't think I was clear with my question, I meant Legal to shot the turkey with the rifle, and not a shot gun. I know that turkey hunting is legal in Texas, just didn't know that the use of a rifle was legal.

Is that legal in Texas? I don't think it is here in California.

Nice pics of you and the turkey, did you shot it with the rifle?
Or did you use a shotgun?

Yes, I did spot meter on the MoP.
That seemed to do a lot better than metering the entire field.
Thanks for the idea though.

I'm diffenatly no expert, but could you use HDR. I know nothing about HDR, but what I have seen and read here on the Hog.

Just an idea.

Okay everyone.....put the swords away. Just because I like to refer to where I live as the Lone Star Republic is no reason to have a duel at 20 paces.

Texas is the only state in the union that was its own sovereign, independent country before joining the union as a state.

There is a radical group in Texas that does believe that Texas did not actually join the United States and is still its own independent country, but they are a fringe group to say the least.

And yes, there are a significant number of people that are against Texas leaving the United States, but there are a growing number of people that are wanting to secede and become an independent nation again. The Texas Nationalist Movement is a growing lobby in the state and has been featured on the cable news networks, and is a growing political movement in Texas.

As for my thoughts on the matter, they don't matter. I just choose to refer to where I live as the Lone Star Republic. Texas is not in the South, it is not in the West, it is just Texas. We do things our way

Welcome to the forum, shot, post, learn, and most of all have fun.
I used to go to California City many years ago to camp out. Back then they had just put in the roads for development of houses. But then they abandoned the project, there were only roads, curbs, and coldasacs (sp).

Actually, no.

Many flags are historical pieces of cloth or reference history, like the California flag.

For other historic pieces of cloth, see the Mississippi flag, which has the Confederate flag as a part of it.
