I love photo's like this. Reminds me of my mother who was an artist, and would create an oil painting using scenes from a junkyard.
Just goes to show you how their is beauty and art in almost everything you see, it just depends on how you interpret it.
Nice yard, and even nicer pictures. The dragonfly is my favorite.

C&C welcome....
I don't know anything about portrait photography, I do feel that the lighting seem just a bit harsh.
Second, tell her that that she need to see a makeup artist. The fault is in her makeup. She needs to have someone help her with her eyebrows, and drop the over done fake eyelashes. It's just awful. She needs to use BB cream on her face and neck to reduce the inconsistency of her skin.
The biggest thing is those awful fake drawn in eyebrows. They are just over the top.
A more natural look, would have given the picture a less posed look and she would have look beautiful. She's pretty, put fake over the top and stiff is not at the height of fashion currently.
I just feel the picture is outdated, and not glamorize enough, it just looks like something out of the 70's or 80's.

This is great advice LittleRedFish! Thankyou
:)
Follow your heart, and stick to your feeling. You need to understand your camera, but never forget that sometimes you just have to go for it.
Always when you are not using your camera, put it in auto..........because.......
Some of the most incredible shots ever taken, were not composed and planed. They just happen, and you don't have time to adjusted your camera.
Learn your camera and take lots of pictures. The more pictures you take, the more you will understand your camera and the better the outcome you will produce.....and the more likely you are to get an incredible photo.
Good luck, and please show some of your pictures.
Cheers,
Rachel

This is one of my first attempts at taking a portrait. I have no lighting set up so just worked with the available light which I realize has caused a bit of shadow around the cheek and chin area. This was shot with my canon eos 550D. The ISO was set at 400 with an aperture of 2.8, with a shutter speed of 1/50 sec. Should my apperture have been set higher than that to get a sharper image? I changed the colour to sepia and added the vignette to draw the eye into the photo..... Has this worked? I am completely new at this so welcome all the hints and tips you can offer. :)

I LOVE your direction, you clearly have an eye for the unique, and you are creative. Yes, there is still work to be done, but with a different eye, and a unique point of view. I personally feel you will be successful as a photographer, because, mundane, typical, everyday, is boring, and you clearly don't seem to relate to the above sentence.
You are a person of feeling with a sense of art, this cannot be taught. It's something you have, or don't.
I look forward to seeing more of your work.
Best regards,
Rachel
Other photographers!
I'm terribly competitive, and I can't stop comparing myself to others. I always try to find what they did right, then I find what I felt they did wrong. The Photographers I can't find anything wrong with, are the ones I admire, watch, and listen too.
The photographers who works is less then desirable I stop and look at there work and wonder what direction they are coming from. Even if they don't know how to take a great picture, it doesn't mean they do not have a good eye. It may be they are just inexperience with their camera's, but not with incredible photography.
Here are the re-edited pictures, if anyone is interested.
Sure glad Naw'len's wasn't in that group. :-D
