To any half way astute observer it should be apparent that virtually no one comes to these forums to learn anything: In this post for instance Doc Rob cites Huffington post, an extreme left wing pub to make his point. Joe Horenkamp points us to Dinesh O'Souza's 2016 to prove the opposite. Both fellows engage in an act of utter futility because no one comes here to learn anything. They come here to try to convince someone of opposite polarity that they are wrong and need to be enlightened.

Just about everyone who comes here already has an unshakeable opinion of who they are going to vote for. They do not come here to learn anything and are in fact, are very opposed to exposing themselves to anything which might cause them to doubt their pre formed opinion.

I come here to amuse myself, learn new insults for my insult catalog or to reaffirm my belief that trying to influence the opinion of anyone here is like pissing into a very strong wind.

Are you children having fun? What a waste of time!

Yes, as a matter of fact my children (36 and 33 years young) are having fun, thank you very much. Try it some time, you might like it. Although a youngster by Rich's standard (I'm a mere 62), I am learning one very valuable lesson in life......."We do not stop playing because we grow old. We grow old (and crochety) because we stop playing."

Don't waste your time worrying about how I and others use our time. Believe me, I'm OK (as are the scores of others on this thread). You'll be much better off finding what you like and pursuing it than finding and criticizing those things you don't like.

While we live in the digital age, its really good to see so many 'Purist' photographers, me included. Yes I have photoshop, yes I use it ocassionally, but as many here have said, I try and get as much right at the time of shooting the image as I can. I think many of us want to be good photographers, not good manipulators, so keep using what you learn, and keep learning through applying what you know and what you experience. To me it appears there are many photographers out there who are artists more than photographers. They are very good at post production stuff and the images look bright, vibrant, enticing, but its not real, nice but not real. While I have one foot gently in that camp, my other foot has most of my weight on it and thats in the recording reality camp, that of the photographer, not the manipulator :)

I know this is probably a dumb question but...I am volunteering at a camp for homeless children in NY state and left my manual at home. I have a NikonD60 and want to zoom in on a picture already taken. I have done this before but can't seem to repeat it. I believe I use the trim feature but it doesn't give me an option to save the "new" pic. Would appreciate any help. If I remember it is pretty simple. When I go home for a break I'll get my manual but I'd like to give the children some photos before then. Thanks in advance for your help.

I shot this spider with the camera flash and a flashlight. My assistant (my husband) illuminated the spider from the back and the camera flash worked on the front. I have a Nikon D60. I shot approximate 100 photos to get just a few focused captures.

I believe this is a "back handed" (pun intended) way of discussing Obamacare's forcing the Church to provide birth control to Church employees. lol

I've ordered two Nikon lens from Cameta. I was hoping the first one would arrive before I left on vacation. It arrived two days early! Never a problem. I'll order my next camera from them.

I just dropped my backup camera with friend who's Sony just died. She promised to take wedding photos for a friend and needed a camera. Now, she has to learn to use a Canon, get use to using different control and lens and try to master a 50d in one day. Interesting! Just say No to this madness!

I agree, dasloaf!

Ok guys, I am very stressed out and would love some suggestions. A friend of mine is getting married on the beach at 6:00 in the evening and wants me to shoot her wedding. Our sand here is Very White. Looks like snow and I told her I do not do weddings and the light will be very harsh. There will be 2 of us shooting this and we are both concerned about the lighting. we would love suggestions because neither of us do weddings. Too much stress if we mess up. Told her we didn't want to do it but she has insisted........

My best friend asked me to shoot her second wedding on the beach. I agreed, if, only IF, she could NOT find another photographer. I've only shot a few weddings, in churches. I shoot beach nature scenes several times a year and have become quite seasoned at shooting the beach. However, weddings are different. She called, said she found a photographer but still wanted me to shoot the wedding. I said no. I valued her friendship over the possible bad photos that may end our friendship. I'm happy she found a pro to shoot her special day.

As to the problems that occur shooting weddings, my own wedding 28 years ago (film) is a prime example. After reviewing the proofs, chosing the photos, size, etc., ordering the photos, the lab lost our negatives. All I had were proofs. Enlargements were made from the proofs by a local photographer that printed his own. I love digital cameras for this reason!!!!

Sorry. It looks like the video had been on YouTube and has now been terminated. I watched it as it was developing and thought it would still be available.

Check out their website to see how the officer erased the video and returned the camera. Later, the guys had the an expert recover the video to show the reality of what happened during the stop. I photographed wrecks for insurance companies in my 20's to make extra money. As a paralegal for the past 23 years, I've photographed more "legal" evidence than anything else. I have only had one problem with an officer over the years. I gave up and moved on. It wasn't worth the hassle.
