All that redrocktom wanted was a recommend for a flashlight or other light source to use in the field to illuminate objects in his image why don't you try and help instead of building mountains it is not rocket science.

Experiments cost money. Anything that emits light won't cut it not even directional you need power at the top end then it can be adjusted with a good flashlight.

I use a Nitecore MT22C. It is only 1in in diameter and goes to 1,000 lumens I use it for lighting tubes 4ft long I have also used it to light up trees and bushes from a good distance sooner or later I imagine you will try tubes and this light is up there with the best. At about $30 you cannot go wrong GOOD LIGHT my friend.

The EM 1 II is an amazing piece of kit I am reading the details and I want one until I get to the battery life of 440 images double that with a grip and it would be enough for most time lapses but it is also a big restriction that plus the price in the UK runs at £i,800,50 with out the grip. Things are moveing so fast now with camera tech that Canon and Nikon are maybe not the leaders in the field anymore so much so that if I were to buy a new DSLR Sony would probally get the vote. this is a problem you do not think of when you start investing in lenses.I think I have about £5,000 worth of them it tends to tie you does,nt it?

Hi all, my apologies to you for not putting you in the picture properly I have been doing time lapse casually for a while maybe 5 or 6 a year. I love going to a good timelapse location setting up and letting the camera do its thing. I also love reading and there is nothing better to partner timelapse photography I take a small beach chair and my Kindle just thinking about it makes me smile. The timelapses I do are normally long, this year I did a tidal timelapse I started at low water and ended just after high water about 900 images over 7 hrs. I used Photoshop to bring the images to video. So that was casual. I watched a Youtube video of the Milky Way Timelapse ( Ian Norman of Lonely Speck ) and thought oh boy I want to do that. That was about 2yrs ago I looked at the gear he used then at the prices which were way above my cost limits. Dynamic Perception slider and stageR rotary units are a lot of dollars but I live in the UK so add 30% to that, so enter ebay and 2 yrs later here I am. I have my slider and stageR units and LRTimelapse (licienced) now I am ready to get serious. I have also got to start building my bank ballance again. After spending so much money I will be doing a lot more timelapse photography. So yes I am afraid of wareing out my camera. It seems from your replys the best bet is a used dslr camera as battery life could be an issue.

Hi WayneT, it will not stay in connect with your camera, you cannot change camera settings during a timelapse as they say you can, exsposure ramping just does not work at all. If I were you I would watch the Alpine Labs Pulse timelapse tuition video and in particular take note of him when the camera settings do not change on the camera. This tells me it was not ready for release but they did anyway. I had it on preorder just imagine my dissapointment when it arrived. I think that this could be a magical piece of equipment but they have a lot to do to get it right.
I am not saying do not buy this but wait a while I really hope they get it right because at the moment it is not fit for purpose.

High guys its been a while. I would like to get some feedback on alpine labs pulse. It could be the best thing since sliced bread if it worked properly the potential is limitless. For those of you that have not heard of it. it is a remote controlled by a smartphone if I had known the issues with this I would have waited before buying it. It is firmware upgradeable so there is hope they will sort the issues soon pity it was,nt before they started selling it I preordered this and could not wait to get it what a dissapointment.
