He made the right choice, imho. If my bf told me to get rid of my dog I'd tell him, "Don't let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya".

Thank you. Here are 3 more taken on my last trip. I used an Olympus PEN E-Pl1 with the lens it came with. Nothing special, the pics were all taken in auto since I'd only just bought the camera.

Just popped in to say hi to everyone. I've always had a camera of one type or another but was never serious about it. By that I mean, really paying attention to what I was seeing thru the camera lens. Snap-and-go is the best way to describe what I did ('course, that's called point & shoot today). My main interests are landscape and wildlife photography at this time. I also like taking pics of dogs, cats and horses as well as places I've been to.

Batman building, Nashville. Taken with my dinky camera phone.

Oh my, Gessman. These pix make me long to get back to Colorado permanently, sigh. I've seen elk up at RMNP and in the town of Estes Park where they are 20-30 ft. from the road. I heard them bugling as well as watched a couple bull elks fighting each other, which is a magnificent sight to see in person. Thanks for sharing these fantastic pix.

Hi Jodi,

My recommendation is the Olympus PEN E-Pl1 which sold for around $499 six months ago plus an additional $50 instant rebate was offered as well, bringing it to $450. It is a great little camera for people just getting the bug for a more advanced digital camera and it also takes great videos. The Olympus Pen E-Pl2 is out now and quite a bit more than the E-Pl1 with only a few minor changes to it. This might make the E-Pl1 come down in price as well. Even if you end up spending a bit more than the $400 you mentioned, it'll be worth it in the long run. Good luck in your search.

Wow, almost looks like a painting. I love it. Good job. I think I would have taken a few pictures of it so see if I would have liked the tree more off to the side instead of right smack in the middle of the picture though. But you are right..it was very well worth turning around for!

This was exactly my first thought. I also agree that a few more pictures at different angles for comparison would have been a good thing. I also don't have a problem with the rocks in the foreground. It presents as a more natural setting, I think.

hey I like olympus. They were creative with there cameras the om series bids go through the roof when one comes up on e bay. At least olympus, nikon, cannon and pentax are optical and camera companies only. panasonic samsung and sony are giant souless corparate entities making everything from microwave ovens to blu ray players. Panosonic owns shipyards in Korea. And dont give me that sony bought minolta garbage buying a bankrupt camera company who was slow to bring out a decent dslr and could not compete against nikon and cannon no more makes you a camera company than owning frigidare made general motors a home appliance company. why yes i am opinionated. How did you guess?
hey I like olympus. They were creative with there ... (show quote)

I totally agree with your assessment of some of these so-called camera companies that are really souless corporations that basically stick their thumbs into too many pies. I wouldn't touch them with a 10-foot pole.

Tis true that everyone has their own choice of equipment. I can see just from these that I am in the minority as I am a fan of Olympus. Many years ago I had the OM-10. Never did learn to use the manual part of it but will be learning that with my new Olympus PEN E-Pl1 camera <ducks>, lol.
