ZNEB240 - When I read your note about the Minolta SRT101 I just about cried. the 101 w/the 1.4 lens was the first good camera I ever owned. Bought it while I was in the Navy in 1969, I think. I took some great pics with it while deployed aboard the aircraft carrier -JFK. It dissappeared while I was shipping my grear home from the Mediterranean.

I'm with you 100%. I lived in Southern CA (Ridgecrest) while in the service and later in Redlands for a few years when Prop 13 was approved. The answer is not more taxes. If states would live within their means (and have a general fund for emergencies) they could manage. Some years you're on budget others you're not that's life. Higher tax rates only drive folks away - then what do you have?.... less. Life isn't fair and never has been and as long as we have folks in office trying to make it fair nothing will be solved.

Go see it and make your own decision. The folks that bash 2016 for being biased probably love the Michael Moore BS.

And as long as the USA has the highest corporate tax rate in the civilized world, what business wants build here?

Life isn't fair and never has been. Let those of us who made good life choices and earn a good living - legally, spend our earning as we see fit. The government is the worst possible repository for our hard earned money.

Let those who need help request it through private agencies created for those needing assistance. The government only squanders our tax money with little or no oversight.

Thanks Bret> I love this site. I can't wait until I retire again and have more time to "focus" on this passion.

Ok...I'm the quickest one to criticize a photo here on the UHH...I see plenty of blah shots and I'm going to say that this shot..the bokeh itself, the colors in the bokeh juxtaposed against the color of the cat and bed...the focus on the eye....draws my eye (and no...it's not as sharp as it could be)

All those elements make for a compelling, enjoyable, interesting image.

Thanks for the quick feedback on the cat. I've read many of the comments here on bokeh. I have to admit that I was impressed by the effect when I first became aware of it but realize it can be overemphasized/overused. Thanks again!!!

I stumbled upon this site 9 months ago and have really enjoyed reading the comments and ideas ever since. I love landscapes, nature and portrait photography

I bought my first camera (Minolta SRT101) while I was in the Navy on a Med Cruise back in the early 70's. Unfortunately those photos are long gone due to a bad case of cranial-rectal inversion, on my part. I bought a Canon 50D with the kit lens a year ago, and just bought a Canon 50mm 1.4 for myself for Christmas. I hope to someday soon get a good telephoto for wildlife and my grandkids sports activities.

Thank you for all the great information and insight.

Testing out my new 50mm on the lazy cat
