hi there,,, i suggest you at least consider the Nikon P520 which just came out recently,,,, it of course can do macros and wide angles,, has a 42X zoom ALL OPTICAL,, is set up for panorama done easy,,,, is real light,,
i have a P80 some years now,,, love it
my son now has a P500,,, much improved over the P80..
the vibration/stabilization feature is MUCH improved
now we saw the P520 at Costco,, played a bit,,, truely impressed by it!!!! i am geting more 'shakey' as i age,, and i truely was impressed and happy with how stabile it was hand held at FULL zoom,,, it was $429 in the store,,, yesterday i got a sales thing in the mail,, it is now only $399.99 if bought online........ check it out,, think you will like it,,,, it can do a lot and it is light wieght for feild work

my son has a P500 which is much improved, has greater zoom of course, but MUCH GREATER vibration/stabilization

we tried a P520 at Costco last week,,,, were thorougly impressed by its 42X zoom ALL OPTICAL,, and the vibration/stabiliztion is evenmore improved,,, i am getting 'shakey' as i age,,, and i really enjoyed looking at long zooms,, and how stabile it made what i was doing,, and of course you can get down to wide angle,, a macro and even my old P80 makes it easy to so a panorama or even 360 degree shots... by the way, just got a sales brochure from Costco yesterday,,, buying on line they now have the P520 down to $399.99 with "stuff inclued"
