Thank you for your nice comment...Half Dome was my favorite too. Yes that was a coyote just outside the park entrance. Evidently he is a real crowd please'r and frequents this area looking for handouts.

That Coyote is way too friendly. Got several photo's the last time we were at the park in March. I used a 100-400 lens to keep some distance but some of the idiots were getting real close and not watching the traffic.

On Sunday the Supermoon will rise at 9:23PM IN London. If you are not familiar with The Photographer's Ephemeris it is the best tool to determine time and locations to shoot Moon Rises or Sunsets. Shoot with the largest lens you have.

Another useful tool is an exposure guide.

The Michael Frey application is a great tool and it is made to work without a cell connection since reception in the park is poor at times. Another great informative tool is the Photographer's Ephemeris which provides sunrise and setting as well as Moon info for precise plotting of shooting locations. It does require a connection but if you pre plan your visit you can save locations and have all the info handy. http://photoephemeris.com/

I go to the Park several times a year and being a Canon shooter I use my 100-400IS a lot, great for wildlife and you can catch the climbers on El Capitan even handheld. If you drive to the park along the Merced River there may be kayak groups going through if the water flow is good. I was last there in March and the flow was decent.

only drawback is you have to remove the batteries to switch it off. apart from that it's a bargain.

In mine for my Canon I turn the battery over so I don't lose it.

Unless Canon makes some firmware changes, the possibility exists that the teleconverter will not auto-focus because the aperture doesn't open to f/2.8 as is the current dilema.

The new Canon EF 200-400 F4L IS USM Extender 1.4x with the extender engaged is still a F5.6 and will fully autofocus. It would be pointless to develope a $12K lens and not have full function. Even though it is out of my price range and too pricey to rent I'm sure the pro's will love it.

Looks similar to the formations at the Valley of Fire in Nevada. Should have scrolled down to your other post. Never mind!

No Fracking clue what that is supposed to mean in the context of my post. I was born with a sense of humor and from what you've posted I would say you don't have one that we are aware of. And apparently what ever your opinion is, you're not UP-2-IT.
Regarding my earlier post of having taken a photo to find something I can't explain. I have not found the original on my computer yet and I have posted it here once. While cleaning the sensor of any possible dust on my girlfriends Canon Xsi I went outside and pointed up in a clear blue sky and took a few shots. When I looked at them on the 47" TV I use as a monitor there were two spots that were not dust. They did not appear in any other shots so the were not sensor related. This link is to my FB album the quality is not like the original but you can still make out a cylindrical object with shadowing. The exposure was aperture priority f11 https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=4031109149662&set=a.4031108589648.155698.1639625256&type=3&theater
Link to the previous posting of the photos.

I had a friend who died of cancer several years ago. His name was Ron Cavett. Ron was my age and we grew up in the age of the early Sci- Fi movies and the threat of Nuclear war. Ron was from a military family and his father was Sheridan Cavett, named after a Civil War General. Sheridan was also the Chief Intelligence Officer of the 509th Bomb Group which was the only ones to ever drop a Nuclear bomb in wartime. The 509th was stationed at Roswell in 1947. Sheridan was also the first to go to a reported crash site with Maj. Jesse Marcel. Most know the rest of the story but untill Sheridan's death he would never tell Ron what really happened that July in 1947. Ron's Dad told him a good soldier always follows orders and he was not going to tell him because Ron had a family and he most likely wouldn't if he knew what happened even after all this time. Ron spent a lot of time searching for the answer in his Dads belongings thinking there must be a secret that didn't go to the grave with his Father. Ron never found what he was looking for.
Writing this from an iPad at 4:50 AM, when I can I'll post a photo of something in a clear blue sky that I can not explain. I also witnessed something one evening with my girlfriend as we were leaving the house. We live in a rural area in the South Bay Area and have little light pollution. It was a clear night and my girlfriend asked what the brightest object was in the sky. I told her it was Jupiter and pointed to it looking west. There was no moonlight yet and she pointed high eastward the said "Then what is that?". It was a very bright light that appeared much larger than Jupiter and was stationary. It suddenly got brighter then dimmed and got smaller all while staying in the same location. Then just when I said I'd go get the binoculars it disappeared. Yeah I believe. Will we ever really know, not in my lifetime. No Govt. will suddenly come clean after lying to the public for decades.

I came across this pic recently (can't remember where) so I don't know the author but apparently the couple were driving towards Devil's Rock and the woman captured this shot. I have analysed it and can find no PP manipulation.????

Looks like a spot on the windshield or water drop. Same with small streak to the top left of the spot.

May have something to do with the number of clicks on their site if they sell any secondary advertising. Higher click counts equate to higher prices for ads. It is very annoying.

Amazing how much punishment these aircraft could take and continue to fly. This past weekend I was on board the Liberty Foundations B-17G that was converted to an "F" model to be used in the movie Memphis Belle. The control cables to the rear run right along the top of the fuselage and can be seen in the photo I'm posting at the top left corner. The photo is of the left side waist gunner position. These were very tight quarters and I can ot imagine being able to bail out of a spinning aircraft while being thrown around inside.

I'll have to check it out. I had no idea. Just seems in the Gallery section there are a lot of Bird photos. I use birds in flight to practice my panning and focus tracking for when I get out to Airshows.
Thanks for the info.

It is my opinion the Forum would be better if you created a section for Birders to post their photos since there seem to be so many interested in this subject. Takes a special skill set to be good at this. Especially when the birds are in flight. Just a thought.
