Try E-bay. "DSLR rain covers". Going from $11.00 on up. I got mine here, and it works fine.
28-3001:3.5-6.3 Macro. Nice all round.
Shooting directly into the sun, without using a special solar filter will act on your camera, just like your looking into the sun without a special solar filter. It will fry you.

Forgot to mention in my reply, Seagull also makes an adjustable diopter eye piece. I have one. Slips on the view finder. Flips up and down, and magnifies up to 3X. Works fine for fine tuning manual long shots.
Don't know if you use your monitor as a viewfinder or not. If you do, Hoodman makes a diopter adjustable hood loupe. I have one for my Pentax, that covers a 5X6.5 cm monitor. It's great for seeing your monitor in bright sunlight. They also make a bracket to mount it to your camera. Might be worth looking into.
This is why I like the Cokin filter system. My lenses span from 52mm to 67 mm. The "A size filters are the ones I use. Three adapters, one holder, and I can slide any of my filters in without screwing them in and out. I leave UV filter in all of the lenses all of the time, and screw the adapter ring into them. I have filters for landscapes, portraits, weddings, sports and special effects (about a hundred). They're made from photo resin, and very cost effective. The filter styles are circular and square. The holder lets you stack up to three square filters. Look into the system, you might like it.
Try making a test run with a dvd-rw. Then you will see what you have to do.
