I love this idea. Perfect use of photoshop. Good luck!

I am not a fan of this either, however, when my father passed away he left me his 1969 Corvette and I am going to hand it down to my son and grandson.I have a picture of my son, grandson and myself with the car and think it would be nice to include a picture of my dad standing behind us next to the car to show my grandson his great grandfather with us and his car...you know what I mean??I don't have PS yet ,but when I do (soon) I am going to attempt it....

Agreed....it is a fine line. I do clone out crap like telephone lines, trash. I have a gorgeous shot of a rainbow reflected in a small body of water. It was not until I printed it as a 20x30 that I saw the trash in the shot. Grrrrrr. At the time I had no idea how to fix that so I had a graphic artist friend fix it. But I do enjoy telling the story to those I sell it to. And I've considered selling the original to the town where I took the picture for a "keep out town beautiful" promo. (-:

Where is the line?

What's the difference?

It the original image is 'enhanced' - it becomes a completely different image.

I clone stuff out of some pics, that is no different than cloning something in. I've done that too.

This is a great use of photoshop. Well done!

I understand what you mean and agree. The photo here is my exception. One of the girls had to leave early, another could not keep her eyes open, one was cranky and would not pose.

The result was a combination made from five shots. I wanted to give the bride something with them in it and have it be a decent shot.

Thanks a bunch. My camera (Nikon D60 nor it's almost twin, the D40 or 40x) is not listed. I looked at the D70 which came before mine and IF that is any indication it looks like there's a 50% chance that mine will last another 100,000 clicks so I'll put that positive thinking cap back on. (-:

Actually your images are not bad at all. To improve them make sure you're spot metering on the bird only. Otherwise your camera will take a general reading of the entire scene, which is overwhelmingly dark. You should have options in your camera's shooting settings to choose between spot, matrix and something else I can't remember. And I repeat, your shots are quite good, and esp so for someone who's just learning.

whenever i take pictures of white birds, even if the surroundings are dark, the birds come out too bright. without "fixing" them later, what can i do. do not get too technical , as i am just learning iso, shutter speed, etc...

Oh boy, as I was afraid....it seems I may be near the end of my camera's life. It says image number 93,372. I do a lot of shooting and have a lot in front of me for the next few weeks before I can hopefully afford another camera. Wish me luck!

Try the Regex site. That's fast and direct.

Resetting the count displayed on your camera does not change the total kept by the camera. It is comparable to the odometer in a car and the trip odometer.

Point taken, but I do think honesty about what has been manipulated and added is important. I feel the same way about it as I do about someone taking a portion of a quote out of context and using it to illustrate an opposite point of view.

What a generous offer! I'd be interested but I have Elements 9, not CS. I'd love to learn more about dealing with backgrounds because even with a good backdrop there are wrinkles, etc. Thanks!!

I teach adobe products as well as some cad and 3d programs. i see a ton of questions and confusion on using photoshop. i would be willing to do one or 2 free webinars on photoshop.

i do webinars differently..i make them interactive and we can share desktops.

if you are interested....list topics or techniques you would like to have me present. i see tons of questions on automating with actions, color correction, removing backgrounds, matching color, etc...

i am on central time (same as Chicago) and can do these on a weekday evening or on a saturday.

we could do one on some basic stuff and devote another to advanced.

i can have up to 100 attendees.

you can come and be interactive or just sit back and take it all in. i would also record these and make them available.

i have been foing webinars for 5 years and i make them fun.

if you are interested in this...let me know!! you have nothing to lose and everything to gain!!

I often say that I envy artists who can can paint and draw because they can put a bird or animal or whatever into their shots where I have to be patient and wait for them to appear or have to get up early and be out there when the sun is right. I believe the wait is worth it though and it wouldn't feel right in my gut as a photographer if I "cheated".

I was talking to the original poster.

This is an interesting and helpful thread because I've been concerned about how long my D60 will last since I've had it and used it very heavily for three years now. Will the Exif data be accurate if you've altered the numbering of your images in camera along the way? In other words I used to start over for each event but for the past few years I use continuous numbering. Thanks to all who have contributed to this whole site.

Generally images being used in advertising are priced much higher than selling prints at a craft or art show. Prices depend on a lot of things. You'll find a lot of advice by googling. Price depends on the number of readers of the advertising medium, the number of uses and more. Good luck and congratulations!

Actually, I see the gridwall in the ad at the bottom of this page which I can't see now....grrrrr. I don't remember what I called the walls but that's the term - grid walls.

OMG, it worked this time. But I also uploaded an avatar but I don't see it. Maybe there's a lag time.
