I just read Roger Hicks thread on Criterion and now I have to ask this. What a hoot.
Anyway, he has certain things that he is looking for in the camera. He is able to find some of them but not all in the same camera. Do you know of a camera that has all this:

*Fully Articulated LCD
*Weather Sealed
* Able to shoot HDR automatically (Is that Auto Bracket)
* Image Stabilizer
* Auto Focus in Camera

Both the brand and the cost are immaterial as long as it's less than six grand.

Yes, he is a good friend but not good enough to upgrade my stuff to. Ahh well, I tried.

Can anyone help?

I only know of one maker that proposed an AF system fully in camera--that is, able to do AF on MF lenses. It was made with an extra-deep body; the whole film transport moved back and forth to focus. I never saw one, and I don't think it was proposed to go digital

Thanks to all of you.I do a lot of hand-helds up to 1 second. Most of them show multiple images as the range of the VR is exceeded, but about one in 20 is tack-sharp, and I am a patient man. Adaptalls mount to Sony by a Minolta adapter and I have one of them. Will look into Sony for sure. I am still studying the Pentax manual; sounds like the VR won't even engage on slow shutter.

Peace,

Paul

Welcome aboard.

I think the rest of the manufacturers put the VR/IS in the lenses. Metering, at least on Nikon, is selectable between spot, center-weighted, and matrix (whole sensor) - I believe the others have equivalent systems.

Are you trying to hand-hold the long exposure or use a tripod? VR/IS can actually cause vibrations (when active) when on a tripod.

Yes I know, thank you. There are times when I can only hand-hold; looking for another with IS/VR in body.

I have a splendid set of old Tamron lenses, inclucing the very-rare 180 f/2.5. Now in my mid-80s, dim-eyed and shaky, I got lured away by autofocus and internal stabilization. Lately been looking for a pracitical way to start using them again; I read that digital Pentaxes have stabilizer in body,so bought a K200D. Should have downloaded and read a manual first; it sounds like the anti-shake won't work in the long exposures I like to take, and it forces me to stop-down metering like my Exakta VX in the 1950s. Any other DSLR have anti-shake in body and metering system beyond Stone Age?

Thanx,

Paul
