Fall is the absolute best time of the year for taking great photos! Great set.

So I finally bit the bullet and ordered this bad boy. I kind of wanted to throw up at the price but when I tried to upgrade Lightroom to the newest version it would not even open on my current computer. I have been wanting an upgrade for awhile now. The one I am currently using barely can run Lightroom and forget about photoshop. Half the time Lightroom lags and freezes when trying to do edits. The one I have now has 8g ram. The new one will have 64g. I also bought a HUION pen tablet to go with it to make editing easier. This is the first step to upgrading my photography gear. Eventually, I want a new camera but I will have to get this paid off first. I am so excited for this to arrive!

I have a new soft box and wanted to play with it today. I've never used one before, I usually prefer natural light but wanted to try something new. I didn't have any person to practice on so I used a couple of my teddy bears. Let me know what you think. I like how they turned out. D3300 35mm 1.8, ISO 100, SS 100-200 (it varied as I was trying different settings, and mostly on 1.8. The soft box is pictured above and the flash is a cheap off brand. I think I had it set on 1/64th. Comments welcome!

"...love the strength in her face..." What an intriguing analysis... you are so spot on here...
She is now practicing law in North Carolina... Lyndsey worked her way through a Washington DC university as an agency model. We meet through her agency... After graduating she traveled abroad and did graduate work in Italy before returning to the states.

Megan you'll absolutely love your soft box... likely the most useful of all modifiers... Bring it in tight for drama (rapid falloff) or back it off for soft velvety smooth skin/features. Newborns are a wonderful challenge... Just be certain that "Mom" is the creative director and is on set for the entire session...

Below is one of my few efforts at "Newborn"... Photo VOGUE Italia liked it and published it on their web portal...
Mom here is a former NYC agency fashion model... She deserves all credit for making this session happen...
Always wanted to be published in VOGUE... lol

Looking forward to seeing your exciting Newborn efforts with the new Soft Box!
Cheers!

That is a beautiful shot! It really shows the connection between mom and baby.

I love this one Thomas! That red hair is gorgeous and I love the strength in her face. She looks like she isn't going to take anybody's bs! Well done as always. I finally got a soft box to play with. Haven't had a chance to do it yet but I am so looking forward to it. I have a friend who is expecting in February and she is going to let me do the newborn pictures (yay!). I will be practicing with it quite a bit to get ready for that.

Those are some very nice photos, Maggie! I can see a familial resemblance in those boys for sure.

BTW, where is that leaf strewn walkway? It looks a bit familiar for some reason?

Thank you! The path is at a park called Redwood Park near my home. It is in NC.
