How big was it? Less than 400 KB?

Don't forget, you can always resize it to smaller than 2000x3000. You just don't have to go all the way down to 400x600 (0.24 MP).

I think that was at 800, Scotty … never mind! … Just shot 68 new pics … I'll see what can be done w/ 'em!

It's only what I have been trying to get across starting with my first post on this thread on page 3. It's been a struggle.

Well - if you hadn't been so obnoxious, to begin with - perhaps, we could've gotten somewhere.

I tried sending another file via e-mail - at min. 3:2 … still hung up! ….

So, not sure it's going to work!

Will be going out to shoot some NEW "Dock-on-the-Bay" pics in a few … will experiment upon my return.

You actually proved that my advice works. You managed to find your threshold near 450kb. You are almost there.

Now take that 24 MP file and resize it to 6 MP (3000x2000) before you compress it. The only thing left is to find out how much compression you need. I will spoon-feed it to you.

Happy Birthday!

Thanks, Scotty …

Something REALLY helpful, for once ...

Sounds like the world has passed you by.

An inexpensive ISP would be cheaper for you than a second phone number (like we had to do back in the Stone Age).

You seem to be more creative coming up with excuses than with solutions.

Hey, Scotty … you've given me a headache with all this … one fine B-Day Present … thanks, a lot!!!

Hey, if you hurry - you just might be able to get me fixed up with FIOS, before the end of the day!!!

FYI - I reduced a 24MP (12.9MB) file earlier, to min. HD - turned out to be 1.5MB. I, then - could NOT send it via e-mail, after two hours of trying. I reduced it further to 640 (a 450kb file) and it went thru, without a hitch. So, your hypothesis - doesn't mean SQUAT - to me. Now, leave off - willya?

I understand perfectly well. It has to do with megabytes transmitted, not megapixels. Don’t you know the difference?

Do you get a lot of calls after midnight? Or is that just a new excuse?

Hey, Scotty - go and soak your head in a HOT frying pan - willya? … Promise you'll feel better, afterwards!

Ever heard of Updates?

That's how everyone on UHH distinguishes a thumbnail from a downloadable image. If it doesn't have a (Download) link under it, it's a thumbnail with a maximum size of 600x400.

And 640x480 is not a 3:2 ratio. it's 4:3. But 720x480 is a 3:2 ratio. Maybe you can work on the math while you wait for you upload to finish.

But you don'e even have to reduce the dimensions of your image. Just increase the compression as I explained earlier.

Scotty - methinks you STILL don't understand my situation - vis-à-vis - telephone connection/uploads. Let me try and lay this out for you, once more: I have only limited time to upload images, as my landline - from which I dial-up - to get onto the Net - is the ONLY phone I have. So, when I wish to do an upload, I must do it as quickly and efficiently, as I possibly can, and then, get off-line, again, to accept calls. Got it?

None of them has a download link. We can't see them any larger than 600x400. That's what we call a thumbnail.

Do you really think that

https://static.uglyhedgehog.com/upload/2019/7/16/t1-720917-ad_sculpture_at_36_t4i_25_.jpg

Is that what a professional photographer with four decades of experience considers his best image of 2019, worthy of a large print?

"That's what we call a thumbnail." ... you mean - that's what YOU consider a thumbnail. A photograph which is reduced to 640x480 (min. res.) is just made the min. size by me, to enable fast and efficient uploads by ME: a person with limited bandwidth, due to a Dial-Up Connection (which is - also his landline.)

If I didn't do it that way, I would not be able to share the pictures, AT ALL! That's IT, Scotty. Leave off!!!!

The excuses were mostly in Face-off ... Let's have a shoot-out - shall we? to explain repeatedly why you could not meet your own challenge to come up with, "the one you are so very delighted with - you are considering blowing it up to plaster a wall with it."

Looking at the thumbnails you have posted here we can see why you were reticent.

You NEVER leave off - do you, Scotty?

I think you must have missed the Lion pic. That one - would make GREAT wallpaper!!!!

Thumbnails???? … You need to redefine your terminology. (I reduced them to min. to enable posting!!!)

I make no excuses for the images I post here, Scotty …

They are what they are … the ones I'm willing to share …

Some are terrific, others aren't … considering the thousands I take … that's not bad …

If I was entering them in a contest or something, I'd be far more selective - but, I'm not …

Just posting them, here, at UHH … just to share …
