Great shot. It's like the magic act of sawing the person in half.

Of course not, but most of this thread has had to do with a comparison to today’s digital cameras, not 35mm film cameras.

I was using the 35 mm film as an example. A larger format sensor will retain better resolution, if the image is blown up compared to a small format sensor. A 9×9 sensor will be very expensive

Purdue Engineering claims that a film size of 9" x 9" would need a digital image size per frame of 432 mega-pixels. Now that is resolution. How can 35mm full frame digitals compete with that?---ew

I don't think a 35mm film camera can compete with a 8×10 film camera, resolution wise.

I pick up my camera, walk out the door and to me the measure of success is the number shots taken and the number of keepers produced. Few or no shots make it a failed day

When I was younger I would pickup my fly rod, drive three hours to my favorite stream, fish from dawn to dark without even a rise let alone a strike. Drive 3 hours home and consider it a great day.

I wonder why the difference?

With photography you are defining success/failure as the amount of shots taken and the amount of "keepers"

With fishing you are not defining success/failure. My hunch is the act of fishing is self rewarding for you, the anticipation of catching a fish.
