I have had an 80D for several years and love it. I bought it to update my T2i and never had any regret. I bought it for 2 reasons, for the fully articulated screen and better low light sensitivity. I not only got that, but the very appreciated touch screen which lets me change camera settings at a glance. I also got an increase from 18 to 24 megapixels as well as some new features. It takes great images as they all really do if the lens is good. I have since had no urge to update because of any shortcoming on its part.

I started with a t4i and added the 80d. You will love it! The learning curve is not bad at all.

Thanks Marg. I feel better with every positive response.

There should be no learning curve moving between such similar cameras. Get that out of your head and the upgrade will go smoothly. Don’t be inventing problems for yourself. Keep calm and carry on.

Thanks for responding User ID. I'm looking forward to any learning processes. Being retired, I have a lot more time than money. Should be getting my camera Thur./tomorrow.

I love my 80D (upgraded from T5i). I don’t feel that your learning curve will be drastic. Make sure to read the manual and shoot, shoot, shoot. I also shoot with a 90D. Enjoy your camera and your images.

Thank you for replying Karen. I have received so many positive responses that I feel pretty confident in my choice.

I started with a T3i and went to the 80D. I love the camera and have nothing but good things to say about it except for low light situations which it doesn’t perform well in.

I will be shooting outdoors only in good (hopefully) light, so that shouldn't be a problem.
Thanks for replying to my post.

I have two 80D's and talked two of my friends into getting one. Short of going full-frame I believe this is the best bang for the buck out there, but I admit to having a Canon bias.

As others have said, the menu system is similar from one model to the next, and the menu system is really quite simple to learn for newbies as well.

Good luck with your new camera!

Thank you, and the best of luck to you too.

I've had my 80D for 4 years and it has been an excellent camera and I've shot around 60,000 photos with it. I'm going to get a 90D soon, but will keep the 80D as a back-up.

Thanks for replying DJphoto. Every positive reply makes me feel good about my decision.

I took a 50 year photo break. In the. Past 18 months, I have re-educated myself and currently have a 7d2, 5d4, Sony rx10 mk4, 1dxii, a 90d, and a R6. I am currently learning the R6. The Canons are all similar, the Sony was very challenging. U-tube tutorials have helped the most, lots of them. Go thru them slowly, with the camera in front of you, starting and stopping and rewinding, and it will slowly start coming together. I use the 90d the most now, or the Sony. I do cattle pics, wildlife, landscapes, family, photos of opportunity around the ranch.

Thanks for responding Doc. U-tube is my go to choice for learning. The other one is trial and error.

I had an 80D before I upgraded to a full frame camera. I gave it to my daughter. It was great but I wanted the full frame. It will be easy to learn. The touch screen simplifies things and is fast to operate to change settings etc. You will love it and it takes great pictures.
Let me repeat, I found it to be a great camera.

Thanks for your input fantam. I think I may have made the right choice.

I don't like bugs. I dont even like very good photos (these are) of bugs. I hire an exterminator to kill bugs. I dont like sharing my living space (they dont even pay rent) with them. Some transfer deadly diseases. One type infected me with Lime disease. They cause many fatalities worldwide. I dont like bugs

You gotta remember that some bugs are a food source for birds, and those birds will act as natural exterminators.

Anyone using the 80d? If so, how are you liking it----or not? My T2i bit the dust after it was dropped. Now the shutter won't budge. I should be getting my new, to me, 80d tomorrow or the day after from B&H photo. I have a feeling this is going to be a drastic learning curve for me. Comments please.

Fantastic macro!
This was my first year getting stung by Fire ants and then Carpenter ants. They got on the bottoms of a box of donuts in my living room. The things got on my hands and feet (wearing flip flops) Needless to say, I'm not feeling too kindly towards ants at the moment. Do you know what kind these were in your photos?
