The problem is the democrat votes for the no good republican bill so the Republican will vote for the no good democrat bill. Term limits and get rid of Profesional politicians. Every body in Washington owes some one else there a "favor". And then there are the lobyists,.... professional bribery!
Then campaign donations from big bussiness, oh and then China kicked in on ossama's election?.oops I meant obama.

In arkansas at walmart I was told I needed a prescription to get sudafed for the worst cold I think I ever had. Needless to say I did not get it as I go to the va and it would have took a week or more to get in to see a doctor.

30 some years ago I bought a leitz tiltall tripod That was less than $50. It was used and I repaired a repaired leg. It still works for me and I can not imagine what any new one would do better for me. I have used it for medium format, 35mm and 4x5 cameras.

uncoated lens, probably 2 elements in very bright sunlight behind the camera. Both boys are kind of squinting because of the light.

That's incorrect. There is no government rule or regulation new products must come in sealed packages. In fact very very few camera items come in sealed boxes, primarily for two reasons:
The hardware needed to seal or shrink wrap an opened package is easy to obtain and not expensive. Resealing a package is simple.
Smaller mom-n-pop shops cannot afford a whole library of equipment dedicated to store display. If a box has to be opened to show something to a prospective customer it also has to be closed back up if that customer declines to make the purchase.

Ok I can see that, but what about the on line stores that sell things discounted called "open box" items? John

Some where I read that an item advertised as new must come in a sealed box. "Gov regs"? That would explain some of the open box deals from reputable dealers. If I were ever to order there again I believe I would be relying on any warr or help from my credit card co. To pay by any other means would be insane.

When I ordered the enlarging lens they called me on phone saying they had it in stock but in a kit with other useless items for immediate delivery and if I just wanted just the lens at a too good to be true price It would be a wait! A real long wait! (bait and switch)

Not sure if digital will ever equal a b&w silver print out of a home darkroom on good paper. I used to go a lot to the art institute in chicago to view the black and white prints that I was never able to quite equal in my own dark room.
Today I have yet to see an inkjet come close to those prints in quality. A silver print has a depth that ink can never have, maybe some day though. Wonder if the zone system would work in b&w digital! john

How bout a million years ago when kodak had instant film and also a dark room system for printing slides 8x10 and larger? Guess polaroid sued them for copyright violations. I always thought the color was better with what kodak had too. I ended up trashing the darkroom stuff and kodak was going to send a coupon for the instant cameras. I had a top of the line camera and got a coupon worth maybe $25 off some over priced kodak point and shoot stuff you had to get at full retail. And the dark room equip was tough luck with no coupons.

There have been some selfies a chimp took circulating on the internet with big controversy about who owns the copy rights! a person who owned the equipment verses some animal rights group! With todays cameras if some one keeps pushing the button sooner or later a 2 year old kid or even the chimp gets a money shot! I liked film so much better when you had to know how to set shutter and ap. and manual focus. I always felt more like I created the shot not the camera as todays all auto stuff does.

I would dump the home phone in a heart beat to go with a internet based home phone service if I could. I am stuck with a tiny local phone company that charges twice what a big city phone company does. They have no competition at all, along with no cable tv in my area. Track phone is my only way to call long distance or more than 25 miles, as I have no long distance carrier with local phone co.

In order to have magic jack I would have to keep home phone service.....that would suck

I have had track phone probably 10 years, same old motorola phone and have never had it not work. It does have a quirk, I charge it daily and if you do not open the flip phone up after charging the lighted display stays on and runs battery down. I get double min and have never ran out.

big negative with magic jack and all the rest of the internet phones is you have to have some way other than dsl to get it and the only way I can get internet is dsl or sat internet.

I am old too and a non believer of predictions. I remember vividly in the mid 50's those in the know particularly mechanix illustrated and popular mechanics predicted that tv's that you could hang on the wall were just around the corner and would be in production in just a couple years! Fast forward 60 years and walla we got them. All I know is manufacturers only produce what they make lots of money on. And stores sell only what they make money on.
