Many good suggestions and I'd totally endorse Death Valley (if not too hot), also Sedona when you hit Flagstaff. My suggestion as to your eastward travels across AZ would be to get off I-40 and take historic Rte. 66 from Topac (at the CO river). You'll see some great scenary, great photo-ops and hit such notable towns as Kingman, Seligman, Williams and Flagstaff (lots of great brew-pubs and cafes all along the way). Then east of Flagstaff, Meteor Crater, Winslow (yep, "Standing on the Corner", and Holbrook for Petrified Forest and Painted desert. Enjoy your trip!

Thanks for the nice comments on my July 2 post about "trucks on 66". I'm still trying to familiarize myself w/posting to gallery (thought I might be able to append or add to my original post, but looks like I need to create a new topic). Anyway, here are a few more shots of trucks along Rte. 66.

Thanks, and a lot more where these came from. Still not clear on how to load photos to the forum and/or how they come through so appreciate your response.

I hope these come through and are posted right. I've traveled historic Rte. 66 from Chicago to Santa Monica a couple of times and thought I'd post some of my shots along the route under various categories. Approximately 1/3 of the travelers on the "Mother Road" are from Europe, Asia and Australia, so figured I'd try to share some of the perspectives of landscape, architecture, and story that goes along with this part of Americana. Hope you enjoy, comment and by all means please let me know if this is not appropriate for this forum.

Same thing happened to me a month ago as I was starting out on a 3.5 week road trip from Illinois to Nevada and Back via scenic roads. I discovered that I had left my 60D charger at home but I found a great universal charger at Walmart (also at Best Buy) that I picked up in Montrose CO. $30 and has adjustable contact points so will work on a variety of batteries. It is now my "travel charger". Go to the camera departments of a good sized Walmart or other big-box store and you should have no problem finding a replacement. BTW, the charger I picked up was a Digipower model TC-U450

Taking a 5,500 mile road trip on historic highways this spring, we stumbled upon a rare find... a WWII Internment camp in Eastern Colorado. This is my first posting to the photo gallery so I hope it comes out o.k. This was a relatively unmarked area that once housed 7,500 "relocated" Japanese Americans near Granada Colorado. Not much left of the camp other than foundations of barracks and some descriptions of the facility, but a fascinating find that is slowly being restored as an historical site.

Lucked out in northern IL. Cloudy all day and as the moon rose, but a temporary clearing occurred around 8:30 - 10:00 so got to see and shoot the moon as earth's shadow progressed and into the full eclipse.

Agreed... Nimbushopper's comment below is right on the money..... trigger (shutter) control and sight alignment/sight picture (focus and framing) coupled with the mechanical precision of the tool are closely aligned.

Route 66 has great photo opportunities. It's kind of sporadic in eastern AZ (overlane by I-40), but you can do the old road from Flagstaff to Topac. Kingman and Oatman are a couple of favorite spots for me.

Hi to all from NE IL. I've been monitoring UHH for some time now and thoroughly enjoy the forums, photos and comments. Been into photography since college days way back when albeit at a very basic level. Now semi retired and getting more involved. Looking forward to participating with this group.
