One of our goals during October's road trip was to take the ferry from Ludington, Michigan to Manitowoc, Wisconsin. We've talked about doing it for several years. Finally made it happen! Of course we couldn't control the weather that was overcast, but no real rain.

1.....We boarded the ferry at 7:45 AM. They drive your car both on & off for you. You leave your keys in the car with the window half way down in case the keys get accidently locked inside! Felt weird, but had no problems.

7.....About half way across we heard what sounded like a loud explosion! It was just the ship letting off steam & it certainly was loud! I was seated just inside this open window.

8.....Coming into Port Manitowoc, Wisconsin. It was 1 PM our time, 12PM theirs.

9.....They are actually backing into the port so they can drive the cars & trucks off.

Thanks davidrb.....for your wonderful comment on the Upper Peninsula. Yes....we have ventured further north in the past since Indiana & Michigan are such close neighbors. Loved Sleeping Bear and have many photographs of the area. Have also crossed over the bridge a few times. This trip to Ludington was made so we could catch the ferry over to Wisconsin which turned out to be more than expected. Thanks again, Bob
