My new K-1 slid off the trunk of my car and landed on the cement driveway, I thought I am sure glad I bought the insurance, It never missed a beat. I couldn't even find where it hit when it landed. I have a lot of pentax bodies and the LX has to be my favorite.

Thanks, Bob. Bit of a different sort of mix with those generally incredible Zeiss's, and I appreciate your response.

Now, I'm wondering what might happen if I can somehow wrangle a mount for a view camera lens.... Mmmmm! Bausch & Lomb Triple Protar goes digital??? Turner-Reich does X camera? Sixteen megapixels of weird and wonderful? Maybe???

I have an adapter that lets me use my Pentax 6x7 lenses on any K mount camera, including my new K-1. Really uses the sweet center of the lenses.

Nice photo of an old tractor. Looks as it could possibly be an old Farmall. Except the front wheels don't look right for an old Farmall. Keep up the good work, have fun, and have a GREAT DAY!

On double down load the oil fill and a lot of other details look like the Farmall H that I drove a few hundred hours growing up in Wyoming. It was probably made in the 30's.

After looking at all of them I like the third one best, probably because I'm a sucker for old dead trees.

I really like your photo's. I have always liked going up to the "lake". I think my first time was about 1952.

I really like your photo. A friend and I tried to shoot from that area in 2004 and were run off at gun point by a security guard.

If it opens in Window's photo viewer right click on the image and open properties. This works for me most times.

2017 was the only time I ever waited more than about 5 minuted to get into Arches, that was because they were re-doing almost all the pavement in the park. I have never waited any to get into Canyonlands. The only crowd in Canyonlands is at Mesa arch early in the morning. The only early morning time I had Mesa Arch to my self was about 15 years ago on Thanksgiving morning. Most mornings at sunup 15-20 with tripods and then the horde shows up with their cell phones. By 9 AM the place is pretty open, just a few people spending a few minutes and then they are gone. Just before you get to Canyonlands is Utah State Park; Dead Horse Point, it is worth the 5 mile side detour.

That is the problem. When a landscape does not have a visible horizon line, leveling the camera does not always yield a picture that looks level even if it really is. For example, if there is a prominent object that the eye is use to seeing perpendicular to the ground, but it is in fact physically not perpendicular, given no other strong point of reference, it might be more pleasant to the viewer if the image is aligned so that the pole appears to be vertical even if it does not match what we saw when we took the picture.

I used to use the grid method but sometimes it is hard to find a true vertical or horizontal in the view. My Pentax K-1 has an option to use a level indicator. At first I didn't think I would use it that much, now I check it for every shot and It has saved me much time in post.

Consider Buckskin Gulch which is next to the wave-longest slot in the US. If you go to Antelope, you should be able to use your "Navaho pass" to go to Waterholes Canyon south of Page but best photos are about 3/4 mile down climb out and get on top-much like the Wave. Also Lees Ferry area and Horseshoe Bend-which best around 11-2 when sun lights up the whole bend. If lower antelope, go to the family on the right and ask for a photographers pass but must have a tripod-do not have to be in a group-best time is middle of the day (these change like your underwear so it may be different). Close to the ranger station between Page and Kanab there is a nice set of hoodoo area on the north side of the road-about 3/4 mile hike-can't remember the name of the area but the info is at the ranger station (has a trailhead). If really gung ho (lucky)-might want to see if you can get drawn for the Wave. Coal Mine Canyon-close to Tuba- also on Navajo land if you run out of things to do. Americansouthwest.net is a great site to go to to get directions and information. My best shot advice of Antelope is to spot meter on the brightest area and let the rest fall where they may. Don't get any sky-blows out the photo. I use a 2 second delay instead of a cable. Enjoy--One of my favorite areas to photograph in the US.

Just a couple of additions; the hoodoo area is called Toadstools and is at mile post 19. It is only a bit over 1/4 mile to them. Also Paria Ghost Town site is just down the road about mile post 25.
