You find the coolest photo ops on your drives, ML. A couple of the composition elements I particularly like are the tall tree standing out along the right upper side, and the reflections in the windshield.

Did you reduce the saturation of the greens and yellows prior to applying your Topaz and other playful edits? Am curious about your process and whether anyone has suggestions for "muting" that you may not have tried. I do love this rendition!

Thanks for the look, Linda! I just came back from a trip to Western Mass, and am very happy to be in my comfort zone! I softened the yellows and greens in Topaz, using the HSL and Basic adjustments, and then masked the car out of each application so it would retain what i wanted. The colors are extremely vivid here right now; everything is budding. There ARE seasons in Florida!

On our way to the Lake Apopka Loop trail yesterday, we sidetracked down a dead end and came across this neat old car. Couldn't resist having some Topaz and LR fun. I have muted the yellows and greens a LOT in this rendition, but they still seem to glare a bit too much for me. I have several aspects of this old car, but the grass is vivid in each one. Spring is here i guess! Comments welcome.

I love these!! So whimsical. How tough was it to get these shots? In my neophyte stage, i can only imagine how you set these up . . . care to share more about process?

Friday morning around 5:15 a.m. I managed to capture a decent shot of the MW along the Loop road in Flagler County, Florida...This morning I slept in a little but did get up to Marineland and the Rocks in time for "His" beautiful sunrise.....Hope this puts a smile on your face.....

Gorgeous and inspirational on so many levels! I need to get out there, especially for that MW view. Bike week started Friday, but it looks like you had this beautiful place all to yourself. Nice!!

Sure, no problem: You will need Photoshop and access to Ultra Fractals.
1. Extract your subject from the background. Use anything you want. Cars and trucks work great.
2. In photoshop, use the "poster edge" filter to give more "body" to your subject.
Now comes the tough part.... you have to create or find a fractal that works. I try for the simple ones in Ultra Fractal5.
4. Create 3 layers in PS. Use a fractal as the background at a reduced opacity. Have your main subject as the center layer with the top layer another fractal.
5. Double click on the top layer (a fractal) which will take you to the " Layer Style" pallet. Use the blending sliders at the bottom of the pallet to get the effect you like. You will probably have to use the blending sliders on the main subject layer to get the "layered" effect.Enjoy and if you have any question just message me.

Thank you so much for this! I will give this a go when i get some time!

The dragon is a lawn decoration at a friends home......he liked this nutty photo so much he asked to use it as the cover photo on a calendar he produces every year. Hey....what ever flips your switch.

This is really amazing! Any chance you could share your process on this one, and maybe load a downloadable version? Very cool shot!!

It looks like I would expect a bird in flight to look at that angle shot at 1/160 sec. No obvious signs of photoshop insertion. Just motion blur.

Looks like an authentic photograph i'd find in my grandparents' keepsakes. The fading white vignette really brings it home for me - perfect use of that delicate framework. I've been tinkering with digital framing in Topaz mostly - they can get so heavy so fast. This was very nicely done.

I’m late to the party as usual and a lot has been written - too much to catch up on - but to answer your question, I’d say it comes down to contrast, including mid-range tonal contrast. This is easily adjusted in Lightroom using the clarity slider to taste. Might be worth a shot.

Thanks, magnetoman! I appreciate your answer. And trust me, all sliders have been getting a workout! Still tinkering, looking for a good blend. And as a few have already pointed out, what may be appreciated by some, will be abhorred by others. Such is our glorious human condition!

I would define FLAT as lacking in contrast. Usually you would want some black, some white, and some middle tones. It's just, in my opinion, a more pleasing photo.

There has been some excellent advice given so far to tweaking the image. So I will just comment on the composition. I, very much like it. I feel that I am standing there taking in the view. The clouds and birds are a definite plus.

Thanks very much, NJFrank!
