And I got out of service in Nam for a heart murmur. The office at Whitehall St. asked a lot of questions not to mention a lot of prodding and poking...

When I first got my 7D mark2 I turned on the GPS. I took it out for a short shoot and turned the camera off when I was done. The next day the batteries were almost drained. Popped in two fresh batteries, took some more shots and dead again the next day. I read thru the manual and saw that the GPS will drain the batteries if you leave it on even with the camera off. Haven't touched it since.

Whatever floats your boat Jerry! I retired a year and a half ago and my supervisor called me and asked if I wanted to come back. I was a heavy duty mechanic for most of the last forty years till being promoted to supervisor six years ago. Climbing around and under big bulldozers and other big stuff isn't what I wanted to do anymore and my supervisor's position was filled. I gave him a polite NO! Between my pension, 457K and SS, I wasn't wanting for $$$. I have a 'honey do' list and my kids sometimes need my skills around their houses so I'm still busy. My wife retired last June and will be playing babysitter for our newest granddaughter so she'll be busy for a while. Hopefully we'll get some time to get up to The Poconos and hang out in the trailer and drown some worms in the lake. Spending some time sitting around the campfire sure brings the peace and calm back to us.

I've had my 7D mark2 for almost a year now and it's fast! With two cards you can record raw to one and jpeg to the other or continuous to both at the same time. The buffer rate for jpeg is 130 shots and raw is 24 according to the owners manual. It's best to use the fastest cards you can get and get them from a quality dealer like B&H. I've bought some in the past off E-Bay and all were knock offs. Card speed makes a big difference. The auto focus is also blazing fast when using Canon glass. I have four L lenses and a Sigma 17-50mm 2.8 and it's a tad slower than my 24-105mm f4 L. It's a big jump from your Rebel and a lot to learn but it's a fun jump indeed!

My dad taught me how to shoot his Voigtlander he got back in the thirties and took it to the South Pacific in WWII. He had a Weston light meter and did his own developing. I never got the hang of that so he got me a Kodak Instamatic for Christmas in 1962. That was Easy! I bought my Canon AE-1 in 1976, a used F-1 in 1980 and a lot more F-1s since. In fact, E-Bay got me into collecting Canon SLRs, lenses, G-IIIs and all sorts of accessories over the years. Then I started with medium format as I enjoy big, clunky mechanical things. No meter and you had a lot of settings to remember like with my Mamiya RB67 Pro to rotate the film back for landscape or portrait. I found after a while I got pretty good at 'guessing the right settings and how the shot would look. Did I waste some shots? Of course! But practice makes per, well, better! I still take my time and my 7D mark 2 helps a lot at 10 FPS and a blazing fast autofocus system. I sold off almost all my film equipment but still have an EOS-1n, a G-III and dad's Voigtlander.

Nice pictures Jerry. Do they have a train museum there? I'd love to see some of that old iron. We were up visiting my daughter in Delhi over the weekend and No Snow. Anywhere! I was getting weird looks as I was the only vehicle around with snow on it. We had four inches here in The Bronx last week and it was mostly ice on the truck. Going down past the dam in Downsville I saw the reservoir was down at least fifteen feet and not a lick of snow anywhere. It looks like we're in for a drought this summer unless the snow gods come up with something fast.

Ha ! Motorcycling is only slightly less expensive than photography. GAS there too. As to your question: They bulldozed a neighborhood house yesterday for a new construction. I shot some of it and talked to the guy about his new bulldozer. He hates it. Regrets buying it, the old one was fine etc etc etc.
Then read a negative review this morning on a camera site; made me wonder. Simple curiosity I guess.

The contractor is unhappy because now he has 10 years of payments and the old machine's seat fit his rump just right.
Just thinking...

Finding big chunks of rock flying around in space is one thing but what's the plan for disposing of them? I don't think Bruce will strap himself to another nuke to save us. Maybe we could have every plane and rocket on the planet take to the sky and push us out of the way of the impending doom...
