IT SUDDENLY HIT ME LIKE A TON OF BRICKS!!!
By Chuck
I Just Realized Something:
My dog sleeps about 20 hours a day.
He has his food prepared for him.
His meals are provided at no cost to him.
He visits the Doctor once a year for his checkup and again
during the year, if any medical needs arise.
For this he pays nothing, and nothing is required of him.
He lives in a nice neighborhood in a house that is much larger than
he needs, but he is not required to do any upkeep.
If he makes a mess, someone else cleans it up.
He has his choice of luxurious places to sleep.
He receives these accommodations absolutely free.
He is living like a king and has absolutely no expenses whatsoever.
All of his costs are picked up by others who earn a living.
I was just thinking about all this, and suddenly it hit me like a ton of brick....
MY dog is a CONGRESSMAN!!!

I like them. Was that standing water or after a rain?
Spring fed pool per Wiki.
Additional info about Badwater:
Badwater Basin is an endorheic basin in Death Valley National Park, Death Valley, Inyo County, California, noted as the lowest point in North America, with a depth of 282 ft (86 m) below sea level.[1] Mount Whitney, the highest point in the contiguous 48 United States, is only 84.6 miles (136 km) to the northwest.[2]
The site itself consists of a small spring-fed pool of "bad water" next to the road in a sink; the accumulated salts of the surrounding basin make it undrinkable, thus giving it the name. The pool does have animal and plant life, including pickleweed, aquatic insects, and the Badwater snail.
Adjacent to the pool, where water is not always present at the surface, repeated freeze–thaw and evaporation cycles gradually push the thin salt crust into hexagonal honeycomb shapes.
The pool is not the lowest point of the basin: the lowest point (which is only slightly lower) is several miles to the west and varies in position, depending on rainfall and evaporation patterns. The salt flats are hazardous to traverse (in many cases being only a thin white crust over mud), and so the sign marking the low point is at the pool instead.
These were taken a few years back with an early Nikon E4600 P&S in Death Valley near Badwater. I did not see the boat and SUV until I got home and transferred the files to the computer. The upper structure is a foot bridge the leads out a salt flat.
I had a front row seat...
I was sitting in my lazyboy watching TV low rumble that built to, YOU BETTER HANG ON!!!! About 10 miles from ground zero. Boy that got my attention. We lost a grandfather clock, lots of assembly required, dishes and some rather expensive Spanish ceramic pieces. No structural damage, moved a fridge about a foot. Then the shaker on the 5th dumped some more things on the floor while I was 70 miles away, I thought to myself "this is not good" , was a long drive home wondering what would be damaged from this one. It mostly dumped things on the floor that had mostly just put away. Just hope the worst is over for another 20 years. Shaken not stirred!!
I stepped out the front door this evening and was greeted with this..... followed by the second 2 returning to the house. #3 is the rear window of my truck, #4 is the front window of the house
I came across this tidbit of Navy Aviation trivia.
The link https://www.midwaysailor.com/midwayva25bomb/
The link displays many photos that are click to enlarge of said bomb load and narrative of the event and what led up to the "Bomb Load". As a sea story, it might begin with "this ain't no $h1t".....
