A lot of these countries had artificial borders put in place by the British. So when some of these countries got independence it was often along sectarian lines, as in the Indian sub continent in 1947 where thousands died when Pakistan and India were formed. This situation has happened many times over the years and continues to affect world affairs today.
I guess the alternative was not cleaning the pipes, so they made the right decision. Is the pricing the same?
Yes Jerry, but I dont drink it...its too bitter for my liking. Many years ago I had an op, and the nursing staff didn't mind you having a bottled stout as it helped the healing process. Many of the fit enough patients were even allowed out to the pub along the road...can you imagine blokes stood at the bar in their dressing gowns and slippers supping a pint!
My local club changed from hand pulled Guinness to this 'nitrogen' system. I asked why they had got rid of the 'hand pulled' pint, and was told that a lot of the Guinness was lost when the pipes leading from the cellar were regularly washed out... so it seems it was a financial decision.
