Photoshop CS5, CS6 CC, and as far back as I can remember has drop down window that gives you many options to RGB or CMYK etc

The way I handle it for screens I use RGB. For print CMYK CyanMagentaYellowBlack is used for all printed materials. It is hard for me to believe that Elements doesn't but I just googled it and it doesn't.

Maybe the printer can do it. It only takes a few seconds with photoshop. Good luck.

If Elements did CMYK conversions there'd be no need for Photoshop, eh?

If you don't have speed lights or strobes I hope his studio has big windows and you get plenty of light. Otherwise work lights or LED versions are a cheap option that might work for you if the natural light isn't sufficient. A tripod and longer exposures might also work in natural light. Increasing ISO will help as well.

Do shoot in RAW ands do a Custom White Balance to whatever lighting you use. It'll insure the best color. Use a neutral grey, black, or white background behind the instruments for consistent reflections without colorcast. If possible, bounce your lights into white foam core reflectors (from any art supply) for diffused lighting. Use black cards if you want to subtract light from a specific spot. Don't use fluorescent lights- they don't have a full color spectrum unless they are the special CR91 tubes used in color labs.

The minus sign on time machine adds the other external HD? So by doing this can I switch back and forth between the two external HD's to back them up?

You should be able to program Time Machine to back up your PHOTOS external. I'd rather use a separate external back up in addition to the Time Machine drive with Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper as the software. It'll make a bootable copy of your main drive. Time Machine copies data, but not applications. CCC and SD copy everything on a drive and make it bootable too.

If you happen to have a Macbook( not an apple desk top) and use Lightroom, could you give me your storage options for your raw photos? I have them stored sort of on an external hard drive but my start disk keeps getting full on my laptop. I trying to figure out some options that are much cheaper than a new computer.

Thank you

What does your start disk get full with? You can run multiple external drives on your MacBook as long as they have their own AC power plug. You can also partition them for your RAW files, processed images, etc. It all depends on how you set your Lightroom import preferences. Also, what do you do for back up?

I have a Nikon D5500 with an 18 - 55 mm and a 55 - 300 mm lens but I want a more all-around lens so I don't have to change lenses so often. I've been looking at the Nikon AF-S DX 18 - 200 mm F/3.5 lens as the best candidate. I understand zoom lenses with a greater (18 - 300 mm) range will suffer from image quality at the longer focal length so I'm staying away from that choice.

My questions are:
1. Will an 18 - 200 mm lens suffer image quality just as much as the 18 - 300? Should I go with an even shorter range of focal lengths?
2. Is there an equivalent lens that can do better than F/3.5?
3. Should I stick with Nikon at a higher price or are the Sigma or Tamron lenses just as good?
Thanks folks.

1) an 18-200 should have higher image quality
2)No, but most have VR which extends handholding and low light usefulness.
3)Nikon will have higher resale value. Other part is too general- lens by lens evaluations and tests are available online.

Good morning everyone.
I bought a Canon 70D about a year and half ago and realized how much I love bird and wildlife photography.
I want to upgrade to the 7D Markii and was wondering if there is anywhere that takes cameras in on trade? If not, what would a fair price be for the used 70D? Not sure of the shutter count, probably about 5000ish, great camera, I just want to upgrade.
Thank you

Bob

Watch the "sold" prices on E Bay for the same camera for value. Expect about 35% less from a dealer on trade. You are always better off selling it yourself rather than trading.

Michigan has(had) the same issue. In previous years it caused cherry trees to blossom, then they got hit by hard frosts, resulting in severe crop losses.

Looks like most all failures are due to clumsiness and not actual camera failures...
One day shipping to replace and then sell the repaired camera?.. or an insurance policy to cover droppage?

I've never dropped a camera- film or digital. But I've had a lens lock up on a medium format during a wedding- couldn't remove the lens or shoot with it either. I had a 35mm Nikon for back up, but also called a friend with a RB who arrived in time to shoot the posed formals. Either way I would have gotten saleable images. I've also had 3 tried and true flash units fail on one job! Electronics can be unpredictable.

It isn't about where the camera is made, especially since none of them are made in the US. It's about whether or not the camera has a valid US warranty. If it doesn't then there is a good chance that Nikon will not service it no way, no how. Even with a seller warranty, where will they be getting the repair parts from? It won't be from Nikon, most likely. This applies throughout the life of the camera, not just during the initial warranty period. They can all break, pretty much whenever they feel like it. Many people just don't feel that the savings are worth the risk. It also affects the resale value.
Nikon has loosened up their repair policy lately and will repair some grey market gear, but not under warranty. You pay the going rate if the camera is one day old or ten years.

Lots of sellers are franchised Nikon repair locations:, B&H, Adorama, KEH. Cameta. They have access to Nikon parts and their people are Nikon trained.

Oh, I see. The fine print says "One year limited manufacturer warranty". That means Nikon so if it is grey market you have a basis to return it. Print and save the ad till after you try to register it.

Not necessarily. Nikon USA is a Distributor; Nikon in Japan is the manufacturer. If Nikon USA didn't import it from Nikon Japan, with the US on the serial number, it its considered "grey market".

Thank you for your kindness, but I do not eat bacon. I hear it is wonderful though, perhaps you could donate it to a charity that gives food to unfortunates.

Is it safe to assume English is not your first language? The "bacon gift" is sarcasm, meant to insult someone who doesn't eat pork for religious reasons. It is unfortunate that such insults are common in open forums.

I've never sold any of my gear, but am getting ready for a spring clean up. Can any of our more experienced UHH brothers and sisters advise where, in their experience, good prices could be gotten? I understand condition and age of the gear are key factors. I'm in the NY/NJ metropolitan area. Places such as B&H, Adorama and local camera store are easily accessible. But generally, can one expect better deals at the local shop or the big boys?

Thanks

Any shop has to buy low in order to sell high. Your best bet is a private sale on E-Bay or via classifieds in your local paper. This will get you retail rather than wholesale value if you price and negotiate sensibly. Or trade in to any camera shop and get 25-30% less.

Leaving my Nikon SLR behind for good. Time for digital (and not just my iPhone!). Getting ready to purchase a D7200 body. Saw online at Walmart for $788.95. Seemed too good to be true so I called. They claim it is a US warranty camera with full English manual - not gray market. Nikon & Amazon list at $999, so I'm skeptical.

Excited to get on the D-train!

Anyone know for sure, or how to confirm its not gray?

Is the US warranty from Nikon or a 3rd party? This is an easy way to mislead people by telling a "mistruth" rather than a lie. It's done in advertising every day.

I am curious why anyone would need a "back up" camera especially when the main camera in some cases is described as lesser model and the back up is described as a a middle grade camera.
The failure rate has to be extremely low for most DLS'Rs today and I wonder why anyone would have money sitting in a bag that could have been spent on a better body or lens?
I carry extra batteries and cards and have never had a falure. I have little fear of a problems that would end the shoot.
I sold a MKiii because it just sat in the bag and did not offer the same image quality as the 4.
I can see having two top quality bodies to accommodate two lenses but...
Maybe others have had issues or see a need?

With anything mechanical and electronic there is no way to predict when a failure will take place. If you are shooting for fun it is your choice. If you are a Pro shooting unrepeatable events it is your responsibility to have redundant back up equipment. One lawsuit for failure to photograph a wedding and you'll be out of business and in debt.
