Hi ChrisKet,
My wife and I have been in publishing for more than 30 years. During that time we've written magazine articles and books for Morris (as well as others). They are great in all of our dealings with them. We've never dealt with Baby Books. TIP: If you decide to go with a brick-and-mortar publisher like Morris, be sure your contract includes a period of time (usually 10 years) after which you get the first right of refusal to regain control of your manuscript.

Self publishing: Several years ago the publishing industry changed and for us we found it more profitable to self publish through Amazon. We've published a dozen or so books with them over the last 5 years and have been quite satisfied with them - the royalty check shows up every month as stead as clockwork. Regarding the ins and outs of self publishing: We've published a book called the Self Publishing Encyclopedia that's available at Amazon (type the book's name in their search engine). It covers video (YouTube), aBooks (audio), pBooks (print), eBooks (Kindle), layout for each type of book and the publishing process for each. Good luck with your venture. We have enjoyed a fun ride and hope you will as well. Take care & ...

Hi RedBarron4730,
I'll second PSE with an addon called Elements + (cost $12.00 one time charge). Elements + adds features PSE doesn't have like Focus Stacking and about 70 others. A year ago I down graded from PS subscription to PSE 15 with Elements + for 15 and have not looked back. You might look into the same. Be aware if you do that you'll need Window 10 if you go with PSE 20; I have an old Windows 7 machine which is why I'm still using PSE 15.

Edit: I've never been a fan of the PSE Organizer; on my machine(s), it ran really slow. I found using the free Adobe proram called Bridge 2020 worked best for my work (writing books and magazine articles). Take care & ...

Hi Silverrails,
The average price of SB800s I found on eBay was $125.00 +/- while a new Godox 685N is around $110. Another member has already recommended the Godox, I'll second the suggestion. Take care & ...

Hi QD,
The way I check if a lens on my D750 is "tuned" is to put a stake in a newly mown lawn, shoot a picture of the stake from about 45 degrees, and see where the grass is in focus in relation to the stake. It's not a fancy "focus checker" but has served me well for a number of years. Take care & ...

Hi quixdraw,
I loved your picture. I well remember in the 60s hand moving the irrigation pipe and looking across the county road and envying the neighbor who had one of these systems. I left the ranch life before I ever got to enjoy the benefits of the self-moving water system. Take care & ...

Hi jbravi,
You might consider doing and recording your video conference with Zoom. I've done several Zoom meetings/webinars using a D7100 or D750 (have used both). If you use the DSLR you'll need to go into the menu settings and change the Live View timeout to infinity to keep the camera from "blacking out" during the conference. Take care & ...

You didn't say what type of shooting you do but if capturing several people in an indoor enviroment is something you do, you might find the all-the-time 70-200 to be a bit confining. Our go-to, all-of-the-time lens on a D7200 is a Tamron 18-400. Yes, it's a little heavy and some people (not us) think it's not sharp but it covers a wide range including tight people shots and some BIF as well. Take care & ...

For $12.00, try Elements + (file:///C:/Elements+/15.0/help_files/en/index.htm). Also, be sure to have a compatible version of Windows (if you are using this platform); 2020 requires Window 10 if I remember correctly when I looked into upgrading my PSE15 version. After adding Elements +, it does everything I need and more. Take care & ...

Welcome. We are pleased you found us and are venturing into the photography disciplines many of us enjoy. I'm curious: Does crime/forensic photography require a certain shot sequence or does each photographer "do their own thing" making sure to cover the complete scene? By the way, I've done many different types of photography including weddings, some military (learned it there in the 60s), and action/sports (rodeos to be specific). Today, I spend my time shooting for fly fishing catalogs, magazine articles, and books (both regular publishers and more recently, self-publishing). Take care & ...

Hi group,
We've been doing a number of Zoom meetings with closeup instruction using a D750 with a 50mm macro lens. The laptop camera has no lag when in the Zoom meeting but the Nikon connected using a USB cable has a little lag; not enough to be a big problem but we'd like to eliminate it if possible. The "connection software we're using is digiCam Control.

In an effort to fix the problem, we've installed a Cat 6 cable between the laptop and the Internet modem. That helped but still didn't completely fix it. Will an Elgato Cam Link (or similar devise) between the camera's HDMI jack and laptop's USB port fix the problem? What are you doing for your Zoom meetings & webinars? Your thoughts are most welcome. Take care & ...
