I note that they do allow photography but have a restriction against "professional equipment" and no set ups with tripods, monopods, etc. Can anyone elaborate or relate their shooting experience there? I understand that there are to be no photos taken in the Memorial section itself(nor should there be).

Beautiful shots! Send us some from the large cat rescue there. Wonderful animals, but all behind chain link so it is hard to get a clear shot.

Forgot to notice the reflection in the glass separating me from this worker at the Antiquare in Quebec City. Kinda freeky, don't you think?

My eye for a hat!

Visited Roanoke Electric probably close to 30 years ago and conducted physical tests on theirs and many other manufactures rebars.

That is ironic! Let me know of any particular shots you would like to suggest or see and I will do my best to get them for you. They still are making rebar. I was able to tour with several retired GE engineers who have built plants in Brazil, Germany and France. They really knew what they were seeing.

It is now Steel Dynamics off Westside Boulevard in Roanoke. Great recycling of waste metals. That second pic is the explosive sparks created when they "stir" the cast with these enormous electrodes. The last is of rolled steel that has been cut with a torch and they are of different temps, hence the color differences.

Thanks for taking a look. It is really an amazing process with really complicated controls to operate and drive the mechanization. Found it downright bizarre that we had something like this in the good ol" South!

Gained access to a bar rolling mill using recycled materials. Hope to go back with permission to shoot workers as I was requested NOT to do so on this tour.
