These are three other images from my Quoddy Head State Park series.

To answer a couple of questions I've been asked,...
The paddlewheelers B&W original negative was scanned using a Nikon LS4000 film scanner to digitize it. The grain was inherent in the Tri-x negative, I chose to leave it that way.
Yes I have vertical night images of the Lighthouse and will post a few soon.
I will cover more in my next post.

Crashing surf on Quoddy Head State Parks rugged cliffs


Shooting directly into the sun with a ND filter created a B&W silouette.


Moonlight on the Gulf of Maine from Quoddy head State Park,..was a long, late and wondrous evening spent there.

Male Mosquito on a leaf,...this guy won't bite you :-}

This image was taken in my wifes flower garden,..guess it's one of her pets

up here where I'm located though,...the black flies put mosquitos to shame.
Black flies are Maines state bird I hear said,.... ahhh yep

I found this video last year and have returned quite often to remind myself how blessed my life is.
Take a quick minute to view it,...it's very well done and in a sensitive way.
Just wanted to share this because it really touched my soul.

Am trying to grow in my seeing with this self assignment, have been working at Quoddy Head State Park for well over a year now as time permits. Did not take long to photograph all the obvious angles,....returning now regularly attempting to stretch my vision in new ways.
In each image I try to duplicate the character and feel of the light that was present,....hopefully conveying that to the viewer in my finished image.
Am not always successful but the experience is fulfilling in many other ways experiencing moments in nature.

Just discovered Uglyhedgehog and signed on. Look forward to meeting new photographers, learn from others, share ideas, techniques and images and enjoy the features offered here with everyone.
Am located in downeast Maine,...am not from here, but I got here as soon as I could ;-)
Have been involved in photography in many venues over the years,...b & w darkroom, industrial, weddings, freelance,scenic, nature, macro 2-1/4 , 35mm and now digital.
and so on.
Currently enjoying the entire digital work flow experience using photoshop CS5 and ACR. I use a Nikon D300 primarily,... in manual mode only,...have never used auto focus on a DSLR,...prefer manual on all settings,...I'm a dinosaur what can I say,...spent tooooo many years learning photography to have the camera tell me what to do :-) guess I learn better from making mistakes,...works for me.
I am retired from a career in the engineering field as a design draftsman,....currently am a photo editor working from my home office with my wife.

Enjoy dabbling with PC computers,...although I think they enjoy dabbling with me more :( especially lately.
I look forward to the camaraderie here as I learn my way around.

I like them both but think the black & white has more impact.
This is a beautiful strong image,..what a gift to be there when the light was so dramatic.
