Well, I'm back from my short vacation, and will add a few of my photos. My daughter in law was in charge of a team for the RELAY FOR LIFE, so I will start with that. To all of those who have faced CANCER, my best wishes for a cancer free life.

Thanx for the cancer free life.

  Congratulations on all counts RR. I'm 4 yrs. behind you and if I keep my nose clean we'll probably make it. Of course she's got to keep her's clean, too. But, down here she'll probably be happy if I put on a collered shirt.

Here are a couple from our latest travels.

Still runs, they excersize it once a year.

Not sure this works, no fluid in the glass so hard to tell.

Can you guess where I was?

Welcome to Day 118 :) It's Funny Friday .. the last one for this month .. so let's see what strikes you as humorous.
Here are a few examples to get us started. I look forward to seeing what y'all come up with.

Looks like someone is still roomin on Tootsie's roof. The story goes that a few aspiring country singers did just that in their early struggle to become stars. Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson were mentioned as early "roof roomers".

Not checking out today.

Must have had a problem on the Capitol grounds in Nashville.

You got Cotton Candy??? Does your dentist know about this?

I got a question or rather a request for confirmation regarding the vernier scale in the photo below. I know someone in the UHH group will be able to confirm my deduction. I haven't had to read a vernier since physics lab mmmbbblll years ago. It looks to me like the smallest division on the vernier represts 1/128th of an inch and that the 4th division is the one most closely lined up. I'm reading that to mean add 4/128th of an inch to the 1/4 inch yielding 9/32nds of an inch. I am really just practicing close focus. Got some work to do to get better.

You all are special challenge mates and I'm trying to learn everything you know.

We're going to Nashville and Louisville for some fun time. Any suggestions for daily challenge ops while we're there?

Welcome to Day 114 :) It's Macro Mondays ... so let's see all those tiny things bigger than life.
I didn't leave the house today ... too darn hot out .. it's after 11pm and it's still nearly 90 degrees outside ...
So I played in photoshop and created a frame action ... and photographed some stupid stuff just laying around the house.

They sure had a lot of people blowing glass didn't they. Great picture of a unique piece. Sorry I missed seeing it last year when I was there. Where is it on display?

ferrinmike wrote:
I know it is Micro day but here is a picture of the whole art piece so you can see how big it is. Three stories high inside a building. Made for the 2002 Winter Olympics here.

As always, I like variety, so here a few of my Micro shots in the past few weeks. The glass structure was as close as they would let me get with a camera.

I love the first one.. what is it?

OK for photographing stupid stuff. Just messin with WB(tungsten), manual focus depth of field study, as close as I can get w/o a macro lens or extension tubes. It is what it is ... stupid stuff.

Welcome to Day 103:) It's Taken Today Thursdays... so post anything taken in the last 24 hours.
I had some photos that didn't turn out very good so rather than delete them I decided to add the Orton effect and salvage them. While I was doing this I realized how much I miss post processing LOL

Love what you did with your "reclining rhino". Here's one I took yesterday. Example of my special project to fatten up some of the white wings for the hunters next season. :-D

More architectural details - walk downtown 4/11/12

 I knew I had seen similar masonry work before and the gondolas over the river kind of gave it away but had to verify your location. Now I'm know for certain what city you're walking around in. I was impressed with the dentals and intricate masonry craftsmanship on the Water Power buildings and the bison skulls on the bridge when I last was there.

Try as I may, throughout the neighborhood, I could not find any older vehicles, then I recalled you said any mode of transport from the last century. Good shot hammer..... I tried several today, in between packing and moving and got bupkis... so no old modes of transportation for me today.....

Thanks. Moving eh? Yourself or someone else? Leaving CA or just relocating?
