Take some classes and or watch some videos on your Camera learn what it can do how it does it and what you can do with your camera under various circumstances. But most of all just have some fun turn some dials and see what comes out of it and don't be afraid to experiment and go with your gut. And take pictures of what you like and what appeals to you.

I have a Nikon D 5300 and recently rented the Tamron 150 to 600 And used primarily by hand but occasionally with the tripod when I got back on the images to be so so in both clarity and sharpness. I then rented the NICOR 200 to 500 and found it to be much clearer and sharper when use both by hand and on a tripod however I am well aware of the 2 to 3 time it's price difference. As I believe the Tamron G1 and or G2 to be around 1400 buckand the NICOR to be somewhere around 2700. But found in the case of both lenses they were neither very quick to focus. Especially on moving objects. And when shooting the new salesforce tower on a cloudy day the NICOR seemed to struggle as to what to focus on the clouds/fog or the building. But again the NICOR producedmuch clearer and sharper images, both moving and stationary.

Look up a company like borrow lenses rent one and see what you like, no need for the opinions of others when it's based on your likes and dislikes and what you can or cannot carry

I shoot raw and fine sometimes normal on my Nikon 5300, and carry at least 2 or 3 32GB cards As I find I get 800+ or minus shots per card Max. And recently purchased a 64 GB card as I find I take numerous photos of the same thing sometimes just to try different means and methods and can sometimes shoot 2000 photos of day

I purchased the D 5300 kit a few years back and I'm not the kindest and most gentlest operator and have had very good luck with durability and functionality. And have some 60,000+ shots on it. And like the kit idea unless you can afford the body and perhaps a 16 to 300 lens which eliminates the need to change Lenses. But as mentioned the quality is not there but in less you're going to sell them or blow them up I think most people would not be able to see and/or appreciate the difference. Also if you're unsure and you did like your Cannon. I suggest putting all the cameras in your hand and See what feels right for You. And if possible rent each for a weekend or so and take them all out for a test ride. Both plans and bodies

You might try renting each one prior to your purchase and find what you like. That being said I rented at 10/20 and for my landscape for photography I found it to be too wide of an angle and I was unable to zoom in on the smaller objects in my photos such as the lighthouse cottage etc. And thought it would work best inside buildings and or small areas , or up close to the things such as people portraits etc. Best of luck with whatever you choose

I have a Nikon D 5300 will be using and 18 to 55 mm 3.5 to 5.6 lens for shooting fireworks this weekend. I have filters if needed but was told to shoot and about
F-16, and 2 to 4 second shutter speed, with an ISO of 100, and a tripod of course.
But may use my 55 to 304.5 to 5.6 set at about the same any suggestions. Or should I simply shoot and adjust as needed I will be less than a quarter a mile from the fireworks

I think if you would have read his post that was most evident he wanted to know the other factors obviously if he knew them he wouldn't have to ask the question, and yes I realize I sound a bit condescending but I see this response on this website quite often people ask questions some rhetorical some inquisitive I wish people would just answer and limit and keep their opinions to themselves like I should have now. If everyone knew everything about cameras this website wouldn't exist

Unfortunately I believe the lenses you have for your crop sensors are DX and for a full frame there an app and they will not work as their orifices are not large enough to let in the light necessary for a full frame don't quote me on it but go to your nearest camera store and find out for sure.

In my previous reply I miss spoke I believe it's at Tamron 18 to 400 not 100 to 400 relatively new just coming out for pre-order due in your hand towards the end of July

There is a new 100 to 400 coming out I believe made by Tamron there's a lot of buzz about that one lightweight very versatile and with the Tele converter if needed quite effective for either a crop sensor or full frame

I agree check the feel of the camera in your hands, but if you have the time and money you can go to a company like borrow lenses and rent a camera and use it for a day or so and get a real feel for it.

Some are just seeking the opinions of others who may or may not have a better understanding of A particular camera and or its functionality if we all knew everything we wouldn't bother to ask. It has been my experience here on UHH that there are a number of rude arrogant and insensitive individuals. Some of us are beginners some of us just seek the advice of more advanced photographers or those who have used other equipment. Not the arrogance of those who believe they know it all but don't understand they only know what they want to know, and see what they want to see through their arm myopic eyes. So in camera lens terms they see the world in their myopic 800 mm lens eye view. Instead of seeing through A wide-open prime lens.
