A few from my and Noelene's recent visit. What a terrific old city, Bath. Noelene has got into collecting teapots from this place - real works of art they are too (maybe a photo sometime!). Beach scene from a wonderful old seaside hotel in Newquay, (Great Western) - wine and cheese by the window. Castle Combe in the Cotswold - as lovely a village you find anywhere. And Some wonderful old canal-side pub in Berkshire whose memory escapes me for the moment. Weather was actually excruciatingly warm over there during our stay. So much so we were relived to get back to sunny Australia!

A really wonderful set Paul. I love the hint of the rainbow on the water in the first one, but my favorite is the second one, even though they are all super shots.

I know this is not the answer you asked for...........IMO crop out the structure on the right altogether make use of the peninsula on the left

I totally agree. I find the pier on the right to be a great distraction.

Twin yuccas taken at dusk. The name of the park is a misnomer as it is composed of gypsum crystals.

Beautiful place. Thanks for bringing it back to mind for me.

I love these. You should start a thread here on UHH for others who have signs to share. I bet it would be VERY interesting................

Critique, comments and suggestions always welcomed. Thanks.

Waiting for his pants to fall down? I thought that "look" would have gone away a long time ago......... Interesting subject and execution.

Great photos and sounds like a great place.

Thank you for taking the time to look and post a response. It was a great place, but 2.5 hour drive from my home - one way - so would have liked to have stayed a bit longer for more photographs.

I've lived in S Texas for 28 years. Nothing here in this hot, windy, dry hellhole. Save your money and travel somewhere nicer! I retired from a Govt job here in McAllen but cant afford to move away from here.

I am sorry that you feel this way. Each place has SOME saving grace, you just have to find it. I have found beauty in each place I have gone - even Death Valley at 106 degrees. I hope you find some peace, beauty, and joy in your life.

For birding try Mitchell Lake water treatment plant near San Antonio, and Warblerwoods in Cibolo, also near San Antonio.

Thank you for these. Will check them out.

As you stand outside in front of the massive wooden doors of the Alamo, take a peek behind the left door,
at a small bronze plaque on the wall that tells the Alamo story completely in just a very few words, it reads,

"Speak softly Friend. Here, heroes died, to blaze the trail for other men."

Then, wipe your eyes and go into the old chapel...and feel the story.

You are correct. There are plenty of photo opportunities along the Riverwalk.

Thank you - I also like to people watch, so perhaps a nice glass of wine and some people time would be productive.

We have some of the best birding in the country this time of year. Many different types of shore birds, ducks and sandhill cranes, roseate spoonbills as well as whooping cranes. Also, you will be close to the Padre Island National Seashore which is open despite the shutdown. Goose Island State Park and the Big Tree are very near Rockport. You could also tour the King Ranch in Kingsville Texas. If you are interested in missions, you could visit La Bahia in Goliad. If you have not decided on a whooping crane tour yet, I recommend taking the one that departs from Fulton Harbor aboard the Skimmer. Captain Tommy is a very knowledgeable birder and will point out other birds of interest in route to the whooping cranes. While in fulton, stop at Benchwarmers for the best hamburger in the area. I hope you enjoy your trip.

Thank you for the suggestions, which sound very interesting. I have booked a tour with Rockport Birding and Kayaking Adventures out of Fulton, and am looking forward to that. I will be staying in Rockport for several days, so I want to drive around that area and Corpus Christi as well, I saw Padre Island NS, and Mustang Island. I appreciate the heads-up on a good place to eat as well.
