I have the first 1Ds, a1Ds Mark lll and a 1D Mark lll, if anything were to happen to any of them, I would replace it with the same model.
These new small cameras feel like toys when I pick them up.
I will wait another 5-6 years and buy the 1Dx's for pennies on the dollar.

Thanks Jim. I have the gels also, used them on the bottom one. The others I used blue food coloring in the glass and orange in the dropper.

Jim, if you read this, You are not joking about a hundred shots to get 3. I am using a MIOPS splash. I have the unit set on flash, it seems I am always a little late on the shutter. Any advise?

Actually the Nazi's were sheep in wolf's clothing. They claimed to be Socialist, but were actually Fascist.

What a site
You can have your shots criticized.
Meet a Nazi.
And get psychoanalyzed .
All on a photography site.
Who knew?

I have not, nor never will claim to be the best photographer on the planet.
When I first picked up a Dslr, I chased birds . I have shots of Hawks and I fortunatley live in area where there are Bald eagles.
I would damn near cause a wreck, pulling my car over to get a shot of a bird.
I used a canon 1D Mark III and a canon 300 L to take pictures of birds. I have actually sold some.
I have shots of flowers, taken with a 1Ds Mark III and a Tamron G2 90mm macro lens. I think that everyone who has a camera has taken these kind of shots. I have even sold two of them.
I found myself wanting more to expanded my skills . I googled, I read, I took shots that were new to me.
I am still learning.
But honestly there are a ton of pictures of flowers and birds on this site.
For all you are all bashing me, at least I have posted images of something else.
From the bottom of my heart, I really, I ain't joking, this is no shit, don't care if you like me, or my images.

I love life, and I am exteremly happy.
Trust me on that. I am a cancer survivor.
Unless you have lived through that, please do not even try to explain me, what happiness is.
I have a roof that don't leak. Food in the freezer for month. A 4 wheeler that starts evey damn time. A English Bulldog that loves my dumb ass. A great wife, that loves me more, than the dog does.
2 pensions. Free money, every month.
I own 3, 1D bodies, 2 are 1D's. I have 4 L lenes. The Canon 1.4 ll and the 2xll. topping it of with 2 Tamron G2's. 3 tripods, one carbon and monfrotto tripod and a monfrotto gimbal head. I have toys a, Miops splash and the Miops trigger.
Here's the cool part, being retired, I have the time to use them all
So Yeah, I am happy and pleased with my life.
I just do not like assholes.
Narrow minded, little men with a little power, do indeed piss me off.

I am satisfied with most of my photographs, Not all are keepers, but I have sold some that are.
I don't do drugs, don't smoke and I drink maybe a six pack of beer a month. I like reality, it suits me.
So you can keep you Valium, where the sun does not shine.
As far as being a asshole. I got this private message after my post that pissed off Alpo.

"And I would not be surprised if it were your last.
Apaflo is a troll in his own section. He has a vary narrow-minded notion about what is or is not street photography and he will make anyone who disagrees with him feel unwelcome in his private domain.
There is nothing wrong with any of your images and they would be happily accepted anywhere else in UHH."

Concerning the attic, You and your Nazi ilk can rot in hell.
Now anything else you care to bash me about?

Frst off, thanks for the replies.
Secondly, I am very thick skinned. Unless you want to give money or pay my bills, you opinion of me is of absolutley no coniquince. For all you in the attic who may not understand big words, that means I don't care.
And lastly, I write what I feel, there is no one holding a gun to your head and making you read what I write.
If that offends you, Plese refer to the second statement.

Ugly Hedgehog is kinda like a bad drug addiction for me.
I want to stay away, but it seems I am here everyday.
I am not a fan of B&W.
It's moody, check out the contrast, it sets the tone. It's so artistic.
It's B.S.
I see in color.
Everyone even me, gets lucky and can pull off a b&w shot every now and then.
There are not that many photographers, who can successfully make a living shooting only B&W.
They are not on this site.
I got banned from the street section for making comments about Voss's and other people's street photos.
To me, if you have to explain the shot it becomes a snapshot. A image should stand on it's own. The only information Ansel gave was, where the shot took place. Anything more is a postcard.
In regards to the street section
I guess out of focus images that are full of black blobs, just do not fit into my idea of a good photograph
I have not seen one shot I would hang on my wall.
There seems to be a serious lack definition between the blacks.
On Voss's post today, the guy is a blob from the waist down.
Look for yourself.
I tried to post that observation. That's when I found out I had been banned.
The guy [Alpflo?] who runs the site, apparently has issues with anyone who dares cross him.
I had commented on a post awhile back.
He told me, I didn't understand street photography.
I corrected him, and told him I did indeed understand the concept.
He then asked why I wasn't shooting street
I explained, I live in the country. There are days that go by when the only people I see are my family.
That the area I live in, does not have a main street. The only place around here, where there are people, is at the grocery store. I explained that taking shots of little old ladies pushing a shopping cart didn't spin my wheels. I guess he didn't care for that response.
I also wrote I didn't care about the rules of street photography that were from the 1950's.
Times change, we have gone away from film. Back before we had DSLR's, color was a lot more expensive. The film cost more, the chemicals and enlarger were big bucks. Any artist struggling or not, will try to save money. Drum roll please... That is why back in the good old bad days they shot in b&w.
I tried without success, to explain rules were made to be broken.
I told him more and more street photographers are shooting in color.
How else does the art of photography expand.
Art is not static. Look to see the difference between Rembrandt and Picasso.
Change is one of the most, critically important aspects of art.
The sad part is that so many are afraid of change.
It seems Alpo is one of them
As long as this is my last post before I am tossed.
Here is some free advice
You have to be on the net to get here.
Use it.
Stop asking what gear to buy
Google the lens, the camera you want to buy.
READ THE REVIEWS.
Then you can make a intelligent decision on what to buy. Nobody and I mean nobody, can make that decision but you
Quit bragging, I do not care if you are going to Timbuctoo, If you are smart enough to plan a trip, you should be smart enough to figure out what F#^$ing camera or lens to take.
Stop the bird and flower pictures. We are all proud of the shots we take. But honesty., you guys overdosed me. I don't know if I can take another picture of either of them anymore.
For all that is Holy, leave the saturation slider alone. I have seen colors in shots, that have never, ever been seen in nature. Stop it. It's seriouly annoying.
And then there is the attic. Who knew you could find Nazi's on a photograhy site? This will forever baffle me.
Well its been real and sort of fun.
Adios

Are you a pro? Does your livelihood depend on a lens?
If not, I would say no.
I have the original, its a great lens.
I will not replace it
