Good work Voss. I do have to ask, what are the poles in the shot at the edge of the sidewalk?

Don't forget my previous post about being built in 1941. I've been told by people who bowled there that they had a problem with popping breakers. That's an issue with faulty breakers or over loaded circuits and 1941 wiring being present along with an adjacent storage room that held varnishes, paints and stains that the alley used. Most likely its was an electrical fire but the states fire marshal said it was undermined. I watched the fire department pour thousands of gallons of water into the back corner where the electrical panels storage room were. So that kind of says that the fire got its start there. The fire got so hot that it probably burned up any evidence.

It's a pretty good guess that the fire was electrical in origin.

The fire department concentrated their effort in the back corner of the bowling alley just were all the electrical comes into it. I've seen squirrels running over those wires right under a transformer . Even thou the cause is undermined my money is on the squirrel. The fire was so hot in that back corner that if the squirrel caused it he nothing but ashes now.

Most electrical utilities space conductors in secondaries so that a squirrel's body will not short out between two phases, or between a phase and neutral, other than 240 volt triplex lines. If a squirrel managed to chew through the two hot lines of 240 volt triplex it should blow a fuse at the transformer before starting a fire. The same being true of any properly designed electrical system. Just because you saw a squirrel running on electrical lines doesn't by any means indicate a squirrel started the fire. Lets stick with the facts as the investigators see them here.

The fire cause is listed as undetermined according to Google.

Unless since then they have found the charred body of the squirrel or surveillance video showing said squirrel caught in the act, which I doubt. Otherwise I see no reason for the official cause to change to "The squirrel did it!"

If this was fresh water the glass is probably good. However aluminum/magnesium does not play well with water, so the medal parts of the lenses and cameras are probably pitted from corrosion and some parts may be welded together.

What at one time was a steam shovel. This one looks to have been converted to electric power before its retirement.

Shot with Nikon f4s, Nikkor-O 35mm f2, Tri-X film. As always download for best viewing.

I do use back button focus and when I am using my tripod I use the view screen. I do seem to do better that way but I don't like using the view screen without the tripod. It just feels really awkward and I have more camera shake. Maybe I should consider a monopod for when I am out walking. I can always use it for a hiking stick.

I also have one of these scanners and agree with DaveC1 that they are excellent. Make sure, however, that the scanner software is compatible with whatever computer operating system you are using.

I'm using Viewscan software with Windows 10 for mine.

Dave I am trying to work on my DoF and I agree the chair should be in better focus but I'm not sure how to make that happen with these types of shots other than going to manual focus. Do I adjust the focus points on my camera? Its a busy scene with the branches in front of the chair. I tried focusing on the chair then adjusting my composition. It helped but I guess I am still missing something.

Yeah, manual focus is the way to make that happen. Since most of my lenses are manual focus anyway I just assume, without thinking. I do believe that what is known as "back button focusing", if you can do that with your camera, would make that happen. Basically, as I understand it, you use the back focus button to grab the focus point on the chair then compose and shot while holding the back focus button down. Others may want to jump in here.

As long as the seller has the trays for both 35mm negatives and slides. (The unit came new with both.)

Scans 35mm film to a digital file. Scanner, film trays, software included. Asking $200 (lists for >$500). Only thing missing is the 24v AC adaptor that was lost during moving#! I will pay shipping to make up for the adaptor ($25)…..

I also have one of these scanners for 35mm. These are excellent units. Anyone wanting a really good 35mm scanner that will scan 3200 DPI here it is. Adapter is rated at 24vdc @ 0.84 amps; positive center conductor. This shouldn't be too hard to come by.

And Minolta is no longer in the scanner business, unfortunately.
