I've looked at both Helicon and Zerene but there seem to be a ton of focus stacking options out there that are free. Any opinions?

Thanks!

From the Canon USA web site: When using the proper EFS adapter the camera automatically crops the sensor to APS-C.

Thanks Dave, why couldn't I find that

Without knowing the camera or the lens, I will give you an answer. The lens will always be 10-18mm. Those numbers are derived from a formula. How the camera deals with what hits the sensor is something else. If both are FF, then the image will be somewhere between 10-18mm. Otherwise, the Canon crop factor (1.6?)will apply.

Thanks for the reply Jerry, the camera is Canon's new mirrorless full frame camera but recognizes and accepts both EF and EF-S (made for crop sensor) lenses. I'm just not sure if it would automatically crop the 10-18 or not. I think I gotta be missing something.

This may be a stupid question and/or my brain may not be working this morning but...since the EOS-R will recognize a EF-S lens such as the Canon 10-18, would it still shoot to 10-18mm or would it be 16-28.8mm?

Today I fell the need to tell a short story.

Several weeks ago a members was having some difficulty with a SD card in his camera. Apparently an older model that required a small SD card that are not so available. I PM-ed him and said I had one that I wasn't using and it was his for the asking, no charge! He accepted and I mailed him the card. My total cost an envelop and a stamp. Yesterday when I go home I had mail, I had no idea why I was receiving mail from across the country (3000 miles away) I opened it and in the envelop was two pieces of cardboard and a note with a $5 bill. The note says it worked great. Now remember, I had not asked for any reimbursement as I was not using this card anymore and it would help one of our members. My point here is that while we sometimes spout off about various things and sometimes it gets a little ugly. However the membership here are all GOOD people. The reason I look at this forum each day. So hoggers, keep up the good work and friendship.

I have refrained form mentioning the member here to protect his privacy. But I am sure he will see this post and hopefully get a smile... Over and out!

As a rule I do believe that most people are kind, well intentioned, good all around people. It's just the very small percentage that are complete arses and unfortunately tend to make the most noise.

So the purpose of the collar is to add weight to balance the lens. That makes perfect sense - like adding tons of rocks to the hold of those old wooden ships.

I like the collar because it also allows you to change the orientation of the camera without changing the composition. Since I don't have an "L" bracket on my secondary camera it comes in quite handy when I'm using both camera's.

Have you considered the Sigma 100-400? I don't currently own one but the reviews I've read have been favorable. Plus, it's available in your price range from KEH (https://www.keh.com/shop/sigma-100-400mm-f-5-6-3-dg-os-hsm-c-contemporary-lens-for-canon-ef-mount-67-1.html) I have no affiliation with KEH but I've purchased from them and find their ratings and customer service to be excellent.

I just purchased the non "L" lens for myself. The main reason is that I wanted a light lens to take with me when hiking. I already own the 24-70L f/2.8 and it is way too heavy for me to carry for hours on end through the woods. Not sure how you feel about Ken Rockwell but here is his review of both lens.
