I shoot a number of charity golf tournaments, mostly on a volunteer basis, and previously went to a nearby CVS, Walgreens, etc. to print my pics but their equipment was sometime unreliable or they had other orders and couldn’t do a quick turnaround. I purchased an Epson PM-400 and it does a fantastic job. It’s a little slow but I can do everything on site at the tournament with everything within my control. It takes me about 1 1/2 - 2 hours to shoot all the foursomes, chasing them as I go. I usually have all the pictures printed, inserted in display folders, and ready for the golfers to pick up about 30 minutes to an hour before they come in off the course. I purchase my 4x6 paper through Costco, instead of the Epson paper, as it’s a lot less expensive. The Costco paper comes in a 300 sheet pack and Has excellent results for this purpose. I buy the all in one ink cartridges through B&H and they run about $35 and can do about 100 prints. I also buy double view 6x4 black cardboard photo frames through Smart Products (www.pfile.com) with the black foil boarder. I use the left side to insert a preprinted photo created in PS with the tournament info with a picture of the course in the background. I print these ahead of time at Costco to keep the cost down. Lastly, now that I use the PM-400exclusively, I bought a second one as a back up, just in case I have a problem with my first one. (Did I mention I’m in the insurance business!)
