GM,
Absolutely magnificent montage. Congrats.
As a poster that could sell many copies. Have you given that any thought?

Thanks,
I do not have any idea as to how to proceed with selling copies. But I have received a number of positive comments so maybe that is a possibility. Any direction on how to go about this?

Here is my take on the Great Eclipse of 2017. We had scattered clouds so getting all phases was a little challenging. I believe Regulus is the 'star' visible to the left of the totally eclipsed sun. I would like some recommendations on how best to get prints made of this.

I am new to using Lightroom and a digital camera. I am asking for advice on naming files. When I format my memory card, my camera resets the photo count to 0 and starts over, so this results in multiple photos with the same file name. They are stored on the hard drive under different directories named by Date Taken. So what strategies are common when importing to Light Room. Does it matter that multiple files have same file name, or should every photo have a unique name, and if so, what are best practices to have the file names changed? I can foresee having a Collection that draws photos from multiple dates, such as "Grandkids" that would end up having duplicate file names in the collection. I can also foresee some dates having duplicates just because of multiple downloads in one day. I am using a Nikon D5500 camera.

Thank you to all of you that have given me your suggestions and opinions. I still have about 2 weeks left on the Elements trial and then I will need to make my final decision. I am leaning toward Photoshop cc even though the cost is higher because it is a 16 bit program and does not limit to the 8 bits as in Elements.

I am new to digital processing and I am running trial versions of Elements 15 and Photoshop CC. One of my interests is Sky/Star field photography and I know I will need to stack multiple images in order to bring out more detail and filter out noise. Can this be done in both Element and Photoshop? Also, I am interested in Macro photography and have seen articles about stacking several photos each with a different focus point in order to result in a final photo with a larger in focus area. Again, can this be done in either software package? I am leaning toward Elements 15 as a starting point with thoughts to graduate to full Photoshop CC with Lightroom sometime in the future as my capabilities increase. I would like to hear your opinions and recomendations. My equipment is a Nikon D5500 with an 18-55 and a 70-300 lens.
Thanks
The new guy.

I am just getting started with digital photography and have used Gimp to produce this shot of a Rhododendron. Please give me your thoughts and suggestions.

I really like the effect on the first one. Would you be willing to share what process you used?
