I want to buy a Nikon D5500 in good condition for my wife. Let me know what you have and what lens. I live in Ontario so I would prefer a Canadian seller who would accept Canadian Dollars.

Why not get the wife a reconditioned D7200 , there twice the camera and not bad on the price for a refurbished,

This was a "Refurbished" camera purchased from Beach Camera on June 30, 2016. This camera has been my all-time favorite and I have many great memories of good times and marvelous photos captured and posted on the "Hog". It is in perfect condition and has just under 17,800 clicks and it rated for 150,000 clicks. Old age is starting to wear on this old body and, as a consequence, I've switched to a smaller/lighter Micro Four-Thirds system. Comes with everything shown in the photo - wall charger, extra battery, wired remote release, Infra-red release, camera USB cable, small flash diffuser, Nikon strap and David Busch's book.

$600. including postage and PayPal fees... the continental USA sale preferred.
A lot of good Karma goes with this outfit!!

Are you sure old age weren't all ready settled in when you bought it , you only had it a couple years 2016 to 2018 , I'm guessing
You couldn't have addled to many marvelous memories and good times in that span of time , may be 3000 photo tops , and
Why is there no lens , it's not going to fit your micro four third, and Cameras sell faster if you have a lens to sell with it . And if you sold the lens before the camera , that's backward , if some one wanted the lens, you tell them the camera has to go first , as the lens sell themselves with no problem.

Why not mirrorless? At all ISO levels, the Sony A6000 has better signal to noise ratio, better dynamic range, better tonal range, and significantly better color sensitivity than the Canon Rebel 750D, although either camera is a major improvement over the SX60.

Look at the different measurement charts in the above url.

That is way more than what she wants to spend , and not knowing what a sensor is ,I get the feeling that she would be a new camera user , its kind of a waste buying a pricecie camera then giving it up because its to hard to figuer out , so I think it's the
Right move buying a starter camera ,then when you can handle that ,it may be time to spread your wings , my first camera
was a koniki SLR, , then a Pentax 645, and now I have two nikons bought new ten years ago, D90 both , they work to good to
Retire them , maybe this year??

You really need to go up to a DSLR camera. I just loaded the Canon PowerShot SX60 and the Canon Rebel 750D (model 6i in North America) into the DxO Mark sensor comparison tool. Here is the chart for signal to noise ratio. The Rebel T6i has a much higher signal to noise ratio. B & H photo currently has a $300 instant rebate on the Canon T6i.

For sure ,that's a good buy and would be a exlent choice for her ,

One choice that’s not the ultra low light high ISO performance of a FF, but very respectable (certainly a marked improvement over what you’re shooting now) and reasonably priced is a used Fuji XE-2 and either a prime or the excellent 18-55 zoom which also has IS. This is an APC-S sensor camera which is fine to ISO 3200 and usable (especially with some post processing noise reduction) to 6400 if necessary. You didn’t specify what type shooting you do, and the zoom range is not nearly that of some shirt pocket super zoom cameras, but the IQ and low light performance is substantially better, and one can be had for $600 or less, gently used. Hard to buy more performance for the $ if the FL range satisfies your shooting needs. Many pros I know that shoot FF for work carry this little gem for more casual use.

I doubt if she is in any specific type of shooting, not knowing what a sensor , she is some one who wants to get a better camera
And how to learn operate it , I would get the Nikon, canon ,Sony, refurbished or used from a camera shop ,or a private sail with a camera guy with me

Hello. I'm looking to purchase a low light camera under $500.00. Any recommendations? What is a sensor and what numbers are good? Currently I have a canon powershot sx60 and does not do well in low light. I see the background noise
Thank you
Lynette

The best for low light cost $1500 or more , but you sound new to the camera world , your best choice would be nikon that some
One mentioned , or canon rebel , and some one mentioned a refurbished camera , don't laugh the refurbished is the best deal
You will ever make ,they are like good as new , and one third the cost of new in most cases .but any one of the Nikon or canon
Beginner's camera for $300 refurbished or $500 new is what your looking for , now go to Libraries and learn what a sensor,
And back button is , and silly stuff like depth of field mean , and crop , iso , better yet join a camera club ,and ask questions

I understand fast shutter speeds, but with todays low light capable cameras, I have wondered why fast lenses (f2.8) are necessary.

The biggest reason is money , they cant be that much more to make than what the others of same focal length cost ,
But as long as people buy them , they will cost almost twice as much as slower ones .

Maybe if your running out of card space and have a few more photo to take . I never run out , I have a belt pack that has at least
8 in it, every time I take a camera it's on my belt .
but I shoot where I have to , to get the shot , I don't take a tripod. If can
Not get any image I I don't keep shooting ,
