Sounds like we should call in the gaming commission and the FBI this could take down the entire economic structure of the US government as we know it right? Lol

I'm sorry it's not for your Mac computer and it's called M ACK warrantees. It's a warranty that you purchase when you buy brand new equipment for thr specific piece of equipment you purchased. Since I'm a bit adventurous and/or clumsy and had fallen in the river once before I Insured my camera and 3 lenses. and it paid for itself when I fell in and ruinrdd my D500 28 to 300 lens. After about 2 years of ownership they were replaced with brand new pieces

I'm not sure this applies if you're buying new equipment you can buy insurance for it I think it's called Mac insurance I purchased it and fell in the river ruin a camera and lands and got full replacement it's good for 3 years. As far as existing equipment my insurance when I had to camera stolen from my car replaced it but it's at a significant discount and rate

I asked my insurance company what happens if my camera gets stolen out of my car and not my house- they replied- Not covered!

Thanks for the suggestion though!

Interesting I have Home owners insurance and had 2 cameras stolen from my car and I claimed it under my homeowner's policy at their direction and they covered it. They were depreciated and not full value but better than nothing. Also I recently bought new equipment from Mike's camera and they offer an insurance program that's good for 3 years I want to say Mac insurance and it's for the full value as I fell in the river and ruined a camera and lens and they replaced them both.

I do a lot of family history and like to have pictures to go with names. I might have the opportunity to view a relatives old family photos and possibly copy them. I won't know what the photos are until I see them and am unsure how much time I will have to access them. I have a scanner but think photographing them might be faster if I'm not allowed much time.

I have a Sony a6500 with a FE 1.8/50 lens and a FE 3.5-5.6 /28-70 lens. My setup is a tripod with a ball head pointing the camera down with the photos being on a gray board with two Emart Photo Studio 5500K full spectrum lights off to the sides.

Will one lens be better than the other in this situation? Does anyone have any tips for taking photos of old pictures?

Thanks
John

If you don't have a Macro lens, and any use for it after the shoot you could always rent one

Im curious, it has been my experience here on the hog that few ever actually answer the OPs originally asked question directly, and that opinions are far more prevalent and often unrelated. would you agree. Yes/No?

In good daylight the lowest number for your camera would be fine/ ( some will tell you that that is say 100 for a Nikon and 200 for a Cannon each manufacturer has its sweet spot? But as a note if you are unsure you can always set the camera to auto and see what it sets itself to. Or you could set it in aperture priority to one of the settings and see what the camera sets itself to aswell, and then make adjustments to your liking.

I have been reading the postings on this site for a long time now and I suspect that there are folks who say things from the safety of their laptops, etc that they wouldn't begin to say to the face of the person to whom their remarks are being directed. If you feel it necessary to respond that you are one of those brave souls who tells it like it is right to people's faces, this will only confirm my point. In point of fact, if you are a "tell it like is" person, you won't need to respond to me.
Now specifically about the current squabble. I have been reading Scruple's postings since becoming a member and have found his writings indicate that he is a kind and decent man with an interest in photography, but more importantly in his friends and family. There are many people who write to the UHH who I think I might enjoy breaking bread with; Scruples is certainly one of these, but perhaps not at a vegan restaurant.

That was kind of you to take the time to look at your friend and point that out. However I not being as long of a member perhaps as you or knowing him as intimutly as yourself.based on that single post he seemed rather dismissive, arrogant. And rude to say the least. And I apologize if I wasted your time by answering you.

I grew up with a person like the op, And people like him when taking a look in the mirror would see nothing but perfection. And who believe that the entire world could be wrong and they are right. that it is indeed flat much like their EEG.

[quote=Dr.Nikon]I’m a fan of processing for pop .. metal prints .. and the like .., therefore #2 ... ..Good Luck ., it hasn’t been very Positive so far from the replies .., FYI .. post the download version when asking for photo comparisons .....

You can PM me the download version .., I’ll examine them in detail as well as offer PM post downloadable variations as examples with my reply ..[/q

Just an addition to my initial comment if your intent was to make what I consider an unrealistic contrast between the water and other aspects that was accomplished. But if your intent was to make the contrasts subtle and somewhat Realistic I wouldn't consider That accomplished here.
