There's only a couple of weeks left until the Eagle migration on the Idaho/Washington border. The migration is typically from BC and Alberta where they come to feast on dying spawning Kokanee salmon. Hundreds of birds can be seen at close range and sometimes even a 250mm kit lens can be too much glass
I have often blown (filled) 2 mem cards in one morning.
This was taken last year.
Thanks for looking

I just use a shot of my hand between sets when using a tripod for settings or lens changes, when shooting hand held I use a shot of my foot to indicate a lens change as I don't use bracketing when shooting hand held, too much changes in a scene for bracketing to be very useful for stacking.

Anybody have any experience with them? Seems like a gray market dealer.

Before changing hands when they were actually Abe's of Maine they had a good reputation. Since then though they have become a bait and switch outfit and gray market dealer. Would recommend you steer clear of them.

MAYBE I configured my camera to be just a little vivid- so my camera's fine; your camera's colors suck.
MAYBE I used a 30yr old Sigma lens, and a little color fringing happened. Is it the $3K camera's problem that a $30 lens made that girl's face at top left a little greenish?
MAYBE I've used Nikons for over 50 years- Canon sucks and Sony is evil. Fuji's kinda OK tho.
MAYBE subjective loyalty is a big issue. How many people here with $10k or $30k worth of equipment will honestly say: "I shoulda started with BrandX way back then; I'd be somebody by now."
MAYBE people are just weird. Taking Corps Event photos, I quickly found that if you make people 3-5% taller (thinner) and the colors a bit more vivid they think you're a better photog. Did you see Tony's test with the 4 pictures? Only 8% of "good" photogs will agree with themselves and pick the same "right" pictures twice.
It was a poll- 1500 self serving opinions. I don't care if my old Marantz is inaccurate- it's the best sound! There've been many articles on Sony's bad color science, and/or accuracy. But. shots side by side, people seem to prefer the effect. Take your NiCanJi camera, apply a Sony LUT in your own home, get rich and famous.
Quote >Oh, that's what DxOMark does.< THAT's what I wanted to see. THIS camera + THIS lens = %Accuracy.
This brand + lens "A" vs that brand + lens "A". You can put an old Nikon Series E 50mm on a modern Nikon and Canon. Same lens, different brands, compare like to like to original.

I am looking to purchase a light meter. I see the price range goes from $20 - $600. Looking for help as to what , if any, that you use and why you choose what you did. Thank you

I guess it depends on your budget and what features you're looking for. I went with the Sekonic 758 DR. It's ability to do both ambient/incident and spot metering as well as it's available software for camera/lens combination profiling. Built in radio trigger for Pocket wizards as well as other radio triggers for various brands of triggers available seperately. Even if you don't have any triggers you can tell the unit to measure a flash and it will wait for you to trigger the flash manually to take it's measurements.

Sekonic's Data Transfer Software is used to create and edit camera exposure profiles and then transfer them to your L-858 series, L-758 series or L-478 series for extremely accurate control of exposure. Along with the sensor's dynamic range, it records the unique variations of your digital camera, such as the effects of shutter speed and aperture mechanisms as well as the characteristics of the lens in use. The adjustable graph function makes quick work of viewing and modifying profiles. The meter can store up to three profiles at a time.

It comes in very handy for studio work when trying to set up lighting ratios as it can store multiple readings and do lighting averaging. It can also do the same with spot/reflected light (1° spot with view finder display) metering in the field. Good luck with your selection, and happy shooting to you.

1957 Sandwich Menu from Woolworths....

If anyone doubts what we paid for a coke and a sandwich at Woolworths
in the 1950s, here's proof of the era we lived in.

I wondered who to send this to - who would actually remember eating at a Woolworth's.
Isn't it fun just to receive an e-mail that doesn't make you crazy but just brings back good memories?

For those of you who are to young to remember. Too bad.

The menu's 4 years older than I am but, I clearly remember the joy of going there on rare occasions with my mom. The juice machines circulating their cool and inviting drinks, the colorful banana split balloons, if you ordered a banana split you got to pop a balloon to reveal what price you'd pay, they ranged from full price to as little as a penny if you were really lucky. Great memories Harry, thanks for sharing.

At what point is a digital camera considered medium format? When I used to think of medium format cameras, I would think of Hasselblad, Mamiya among others. Cameras that are very large, heavy and ridiculously expensive. Now we have the Nikon D850, Fuji GFX 50 and others from Canon and other companies, full frame high mega pixel cameras in the mainstream market. Why aren't those considered medium format and why are they not advertised as such?

Because they're not MF.

Nikon has a 180-400 F4 zoom. But it will cost ya!

Hey Gene, I stand corrected, wasn't aware of the new E series fixed f/4. Your also quite right about the price of one at 12.4K on Nikon USA... Ouch... I also did a generic search for f/4s and there is also a 200-400mm (AF-S NIKKOR 180-400mm f/4E TC1.4 FL ED VR). Adorama has on in list "fair condition" for 1,699... In any case good luck to the OP with the pairing he has and happy shooting...

Wondering if Nikon’s 200-500 mm f4 $1300 lens would be sharp enough to use on the D850?

Bob, there's no such lens as the 200-500mm f/4, it's an f/5.6. The only f/4 lenses you'll find are primes.

Well, this is maybe my 4th or 5th photo with this lens. After all the drama and turning off all the in camera lens distortion settings it works well, although I'm climbing the learning curve getting control of the camera itself with all its autofocus features, I think I'm going to be happy with the lens. As always, image is downsampled (this one is cropped a bit too) to reduce bandwidth since I have to pay for it.

Nice image of a flesh fly, happy shooting with your new lens.

Hi. No, it will not. Thanks

Why won't it fit a D300s? Isn't it an F mount? If it fits a D750 shouldn't it fit any Nikon camera?

Which optic does it have 50mm or 35mm? Also, a few images of the gear would be very helpful.
