In my life in photography, I have had several shots that serendipity played a big role in how the shot was made. This fell into your lap at the right time and place. It shows that being proactive in the way that you were, also help define what a photographer is. Great shots are not always planned, they sometimes come to you and it is how you take advantage of the moment and you really shined in this photo.

I was looking for some harbor shots when I complimented this gentleman about his dog. He seemed quiet but friendly so I asked permission to take a picture.
When I got home, I realized what I had. I'm not trying to be humble but the quiet dignity of this gentleman and his dog is what turned a snapshot into a photograph. It says so much without him saying a word. I just got lucky.
