Thanks everyone for the compliments. Glad you liked the photo. The ships of the the Great Lakes are what I enjoy taking photos of, mostly along the St. Clair River. The Bluewater Bridge always makes a great background and the clouds were cooperating that day. Her's another one from that day. This is the Capt. Henry Jackman.

You may decide, as I did, to keep it for back-up...excellent camera that you can't sell for much $$.

Same reason I kept my D200. I still enjoy using it.

Thanks, Don, for the warm welcome. It's always nice to meet fellow Vietnam veterans (1966-69)

Did you grow up in Royal Oak? I was from East Detroit. Sounds like you are about a year or two older than me.

After a few years of reading and learning from the many posts on UHH, I have finally decided to become involved and contribute where I can. My interest in photography began when I was in the USAF Reconn group in Vietnam. It started with the processing of the black & white film that was taken after bombing strikes. I began taking my own pictures while stationed in Okinawa and Japan and continued when I got back home. During my professional career, I strayed away - only taking shots now and then. Now that I am retired, I invested in a few DSLR's, currently using a Nikon D5300. My interest has returned now that I have the proper time to devote to learning how to compose better pictures. I am looking forward to getting more involved!

Just purchased a Nikon D750 and am wondering if screen protectors help and if so which ones are you all using? So many brands and types soft flexible plastic or firmer thin glass?

I have these on my Df and D7100. Inexpensive and very easy to install.

Hi Don
Thank you for sharing this. What branch of service was your dad in? What a shame nations continue to war. Thank you for your service in Vietnam. My late husband was a career Marine, serving in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. To have served in 3 wars during his life-time is really a sad thing. If I did my arithmetic right, you just celebrated your 66th birthday. I wish you many more! What part of Mi. - anywhere near Grand Rapids? I'm really not in hiding - I live in Jamestown, a stone's throw from GR. Trying to get out of hiding but haven't had any luck.
Hi Don br Thank you for sharing this. What branch... (show quote)

Dad was in the Army. I was Navy. Served on two amphibs loaded with Marines plus the Brown Water Navy between my time on the 2 ships.

Yep, 66 last month. My 4 legged buddy, Hunter is 12 today and we're both doing fine.

I'm on the east side of the state in Fair Haven. That's along the north shore of Lake St. Clair. A few more miles to the east, and I would be in Canada.

Hi Joanne
Thanks for the welcome. I was stationed in Hawaii during WWII
and lived there with my family for 4 years when my husband was
stationed there. The last time I was there it was to see my new granddaughter who was born at Queen's Hospital. Have bitter-sweet memories of your beautiful island.

Hi Annie,

My dad was there on December 7th, 1941. We have a clipping from the local paper in Grosse Pointe, Mi from October 1941 about Staff Sargent Joe Detloff sending his greetings to everyone back home from beautiful Hawaii. That October he felt like he was stationed in paradise. Sad what was soon to come.

My first time at Pearl Harbor was August 9, 1969, my 20th birthday and on my way to Vietnam for the first time. I got to visit Hawaii several times over the next few years. Such a beautiful place.

Hi Redmark,

Not sure what Dngallager uses, but I use Snagit on my Mac. I started using it several years ago at work before I retired.

Are you referring to the question about using the MAC Trackpad and mouse at the same time? Or did I read your reply wrong? If so, I'm using them both at the same time right now.
