Like everyone is saying this is a good action photo. Curious on your settings. Shot appears a bit soft on my screen.

The school I shoot for is the school my son wrestled four years for. He’s a Junior at Brown University now but I still go to every local meet.
Normally I’m very close mat side, but the state sports body (UIL) has a contract with MaxPrep so only students and MaxPrep are allowed on the floor during the state tournament.

So here’s some from above.

The tight shots I like a lot.

This past weekend was the first of a handful of spring scrimmages for the NC State volleyball team. A lot of fun to watch and see coaches/players I have not seen since the fall. A few images from the scrimmage for your viewing pleasure!

Shot with a Z9 and Tamron 35-150 f2-f2.8 lens. Most shot at 1/1000, ISO 5000 and aperture in the 2.8 range.

The close up shots are great.

Your usual fine work Jules. So, the underdog Bishop Gorman girls won?

Don

Same story here too. BG was the underdog and came roaring back to win.
Nikon D4 paired with 70-200 2.8 & 24-70 2.8. Team pics. 1/500 at 4.

Okay here we go. Centennial girls team has won the state title the last 7 years. So here come lowly Bishop Gorman girls who have a talented team but not to match up against the bigger and stronger Centennial. However BG has some girls who have grit and never gave up. Went down to the last 2 seconds or so. Wow what a game!!
Shooting at Thomas & Mack Center here in Las Vegas is a golden opportunity for us shooters who damn the high iso reaching an easy 10,000. At the Mack iso 2500-7000 a walk in the park. Here are some shots from the girls the boys to follow.
1/1250 at 2.8
70-200 2.8 85% of the shots, some using 24-70 2.8 for under the basket.

The US Army Parachute Team, the Golden Knights conduct winter training at Homestead Air Reserve Base. Later this year they will compete at the national and world championships, as well as doing between 80 and 100 shows and events in support of Army Recruiting Command.

Night shots were at outrageously high ISO, but Lightroom noise reduction and Topaz Photo AI worked well.

My vote is with Don. The night shots are spectacular.

Awesome shots Hugh especially the night time ones. They say that you don't need a parachute to go skydiving, you need a parachute to go skydiving twice!

Don

Don you make me laugh. Made my day my friend.

You are still the MAN. These are awesome photos. I went in to Max and looked at the rest. Great job. I am hoping to get out this week to shoot some. I don't know when I was out last. Haven't felt real good and my knees and feet neuropathy have been killing me. Also my oldest sons whole family came down with Covid. Even my 19 month old grandson. Surprised I didn't come down with it. We did keep our distance though. Next week starts our Basketball and Wrestling playoffs. Will see how I feel, would love to go and shot some. Tell Barb Hi. Thanks BE SAFE!!

As always, wonderful close up action shots. Love how the players on Faith all had scripture verses written on one of their legs. Proverbs 4:6 Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you.

Great athletes and young people...

They all were nice girls.

Awesome action captures Jules. I'm with Jaymatt (John) above, the cheerleader is my favorite. What is the frame rate on your D4? Isn't it around a 16 to 20MP camera?

Don

Yes 16.2 mp. As always I try to shoot tight filling the frame.
