When I was a kid in the mid 60s, I was given a Brownie Starflex by a woman whose dog I walked. I always used color film in that and subsequent cameras, except for a roll of B&W while taking a course. The teacher felt that color prints would always fade more than B&W, and I also got the impression that he believed "real" photographers only used B&W. B&W didn't really speak to me until very recently, so I'm just learning now with digital photography what you learned many years ago with film.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. My years shooting film were primarily pictures of our growing family, vacations and two years of wedding photography so color film was appropriate. I bought my first digital camera when I retired in 2010. Digital has expanded my knowledge, subject range and enjoyment of photography. I took long daily walks with my camera just looking for interesting people, places and things to shoot. Everything Iβve ever posted on UHH was taken during that period. I still enjoy family photography but most of my time now is spent posting on UHH from my archives. My mobility is limited. ππ
