Another website I would recommend for buying books both new and used in paperback or hard cover is abebooks.com They have copies of Bryan Petersons Understanding Exposure starting at $1.00 Yes just one dollar. Plus shipping. I've ordered book from them and have always been pleased with both the books and the service.

I'd love learning how to do that. What program was used and what was the tip? Thanks.

Hi Unclewiggely: I do believe that it is necessary to have a Costco card to use their photo department. How ever the cost of their basic membership is only $55 a year. I personally have never used their photo service for professional work so I can't comment on the quality of their finished product in that area, and other than some point and shoot snapshots which in my opinion were just average quality, which was all we expected quality wise at the time. Years ago I had my own darkroom but dealt with only black and white so I hold different standards when it comes to actual darkroom work. When it comes to digital photography and using photo processing programs I'm a total newbie.

This is somewhat off the subject but deals with histrograms. I'm new to the forum and am learning a lot. I lucked into a Canon EOS 5D Markii in exchange for some work I had done. The camera was brand new and only contained the body. How ever it did have Canons Digital Photo Professional processing program with it. After reading a mountain of instructions. I started playing with the histrogram feature of the program. All I can say it is astounding... I'm also learning about lightroom3 and every time I think I've got something figured out I find I don't...lol

This was a quick shot out my patio door looking across the street during last years snow storm.

I am a real newbie here and as such am learning something new every day. One of the things I have done to learn about shooting in RAW was go to Canon's website they have some good tutorials on taking pictures in Raw and also go through some processing tips using lightroom3. at www.learn.usa.canon.com/resources/products. I found it quite helpful

Hmmmm I am very new here and have been learning a lot over the past couple of days some stuff is great refresher material and some is brand new to me. I've heard for years that pictures of those delicious food pictures, ie hamburgers, you certainly wouldn't want to eat because of all the manipulation done to the food for a photo shoot. Things like gluing on sesame seeds plus other things. I guess I would say if the picture does what it's supposed to do, like make you hungry, or create the right emotion then the photographer has done his or her job.

I was able to purchase Lightroom3 through Craigs List for $40.00. Because I am new to digital photography I was completely lost, I mean years ago I had my own darkroom and actually used a speedgraphic camera. So nothing but black and white back then. I needed help with Lightroom3 so started using the tutorials at www.photoshopuser.com/lightroom3. Those helped some what and really enjoyed learning about and playing with histrograms. I still feel like a real green pea, when it comes to both digital photography and lightroom3. I'm learning a lot here thanks to everyone's in put and sharing
