Of all the saws I ever saw saw, I never saw a saw saw as this saw saws.

One of the main things going through my mind while watching that was, "Who takes care of the lawn/property?" It is all such a beautiful homestead, but will the new owners take such care of the railroad, especially in the fall and winter. It is certainly a place I'd like to set eyes on - camera in hand, of course...

I agree with Bee. That was what was going thru my mind as I giggled my way thru all the comments. Heck, we could all bounce around to various Hogs' neighborhoods and have one heck of a time . . .

Wow!!! All the various subjects and comments thereto... A very interesting read there, too.
Somewhere along the line in reading all this, I was reminded of something a teacher told us in grade school. (Now that was a while back . . . )
Anyway, she pointed out that there is a sentence that we can all feel comfortable saying, but it can't be written. Of course, the wording can be altered, but there is one word that cannot correctly be spelled out. A version of that sentence is:
There are three 'twos' in the English language. - - tos; toos, 2s??
Interestingly cute, and I don't doubt that someone out there will tear that all apart and come up with what they consider to be the correct way to do that.

I would say, "one hundred one" not "a hundred one"...
Then further down the line, it would be, "two hundred one", "three hundred one", etc, etc, . . . .

Re those standing ovations all those celebs get when they walk out; it may be due to the fact that there is usually a stage-hand standing off to the side holding up signs telling those audiences to do just that. Then, too, some of that excitement probably rolls down to those in the audience hoping they will be seen on TV back home as the cameras pan in their direction.
All-in-all, I tend to agree 99.9% with all said in this column re this subject. I have to admit that I sort of felt that maybe I was a dumb one for not realizing just what their famousness was . . .

Getting into the grammar portion of this subject, it for some reason always gets under my skin when I hear people in all sorts of talk use the word 'and' when saying a number. It seemed to start more obviously when we reached the year 2001, with people in all professions saying, "Two thousand and one," then, "Two thousand and two," etc. I falsely assumed it would be pointed out and that trend would stop. But, it kept/keeps on going, and I wonder if I am the only one who notices it. Everyone tells me to 'get over it', 'so what?', and so on. I have cut back on pointing it out, but it is still one of those grammar errors that irks the heck out of me. (Sorry; I just had to get that one out!)

That is one of my most favorite pass times, getting off the beaten paths of interstates, etc, and taking pictures of old, abandoned buildings - ranging from little shacks and barns, small homes, small 'mom & pop' businesses, - you name it. And there is always that thought at the back of my mind saying, "If walls could talk . . . " I look at some of those old homes and wonder just how many tiny feet have walked through those doors? - - bringing back some of the memories of when I grew up in a large family in the 1940's Illinois farm country. Thanks for the post, and all the best.

I was born in '42 as number six out of ten kids in a very poor family - money-wise, that is. In the first grade in school, I was the only white kid in the class and we all got along very well with our neighbors. We certainly have a lot of those good old memories and often look back on them whenever we can get together. I will sure pass that poem along. Thanks . . .

Hence the name, "General Chit-Chat Non-Photography" section! Duh.

I entirely agree with you about this section. I guess someone doesn't know how to change stations.

In a very minor way, if any. Over the years, I have commented that 'when I've seen one or two figure skaters, I've seen them all', meaning that I certainly get tired of all the repetition. I particularly don't like those events with judges - again, such as figure skating. They tend to make it all sound political rather than athletic.
Another sad note is that all the other channels on TV go to reruns, because they feel everyone is watching the Olympics.
Oh well, time to get out and do some picture taking...

Yes, cars had style, and we waited every year to see those style-changes as the new ones came out. I remember those good old days when you could look at a car and at least tell what make it was, in addition to the model of that make and the year. Today . . . ? - - they all look the same.

Wow!! Certainly brings back memories. I had a '59 Buick convertible way back in the early '60s, and nowadays have to wonder what it would be like trying to handle one of those in today's parking lots. Thanks for the post. I have a lot of family and friends who will get it passed along.

This practice, not the actual identity facts of the story, are SOOO true, - - making it SOOO sadly bad.
