We did a cruise (Princess) a couple of years ago, in early Sept. Spent 3 days on land, and 7 at sea, through the inland passage. North to south route recommended. Hope pics help and you enjoy as much as we did.

Wow, breathtaking! Thanks for sharing!

Hi all,

If anyone has been on a cruise to Alaska, live in Alaska, or have visited Alaska and have pictures, would you please post them and send me a message to view them. I am planning to go in the future and would like to see pictures you've taken.

Steve, how did you get that close to a puffin? Great shots.

Viceroy, well, you can guess what I have to say about your shots, I just hate them all! How you have the gaul to post these is beyond me.

Since this is a random post, (love this idea) Here's my take on how we get bacon cheeseburgers... (stole this)

I don't think I'll ever eat another bacon cheeseburger (lol)!

A few shots at the zoo

Great pictures jimjam. They took me back to when I lived in Chicago. I especially love the zebra. I have been trying my best to capture a shot like that. Very inspiring!

I'm not the Admin, but I've been here for a while, and been involved with running my own forum(s) as well. In the interest of fair play and bringing new users up to speed, I thought I'd post a few general thoughts on posting, replying, and general use of the forum.

1) When replying to a post, use the "QUOTE REPLY" button, so readers will know which other post you're referring to. Add your comments BELOW the quoted post. Feel free to EDIT OUT unnecessary text of the original if you need to.

2) It's generally considered bad form to add your pictures to another person's post, especially if the subject matter is different. This is called "hi-jacking".

3) It's OK to add pictures when the original poster says "Lets see your pictures of {insert subject here}" - This means that we want to see your pictures in the same subject area. Generally, these "gallery" type posts are NOT for criticism and critique.

4) If you have a question, use the SEARCH feature up on the top of the main navigation bar, below the word 'Photography'. Chances are, it's been asked and answered already. If not, feel free to start a new thread and ask away.

4b) If you have a technical or usage question, it often helps to know what kind of camera you are using, and what kind of pictures you like to take. Just asking "What kind of lens should I buy?" is a little too open-ended.

5) Remember that often it's difficult to comprehend 'alternate' meanings from the written word. You might think your post is in a joking, light-hearted manner, but the reader might think you're very serious, and take offense. Even adding :) to a post doesn't always help. So think before you type.

6) Pay no attention to posts by "Sinatraman" - he's a fictitious user invented by us to maintain a load on the system.

7) That last item is a joke. See what I mean?

Thanks Jim, very useful information.

Wow, these are amazing! You should enter the apple picture in the Mirror contest. What is the shadow above the apple? Was that powder on the hand image? What is the first picture of, and the third picture?

The weather was not good, but it could've been worst. Sometimes overcast pictures come out better than sunny pictures. You know Michigan weather!!!!!

Have you seen the Mirror contest pictures? There are some really good pictures in there.

I'll have to check out your new pictures.

Wow, Fat Dog! What a great Cheeta shot. Judging from this picture, your photos are not ordinary at all. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Hi everyone,

I am a newbie using the name "free2bpbh". I am very excited about this site, and have learned alot already by reading the newsletters. I have always loved photography and do it as a hobby. I have accumulated numerous cameras over the years, but I have 2 favorites that I use often. I have a Nikon D60 dslr and an Olympus (the model number escapes me right now) point and shoot. I have never taken a photography course, so everything I know (which isn't that much), I learned by doing. I will be posting some of my pictures in the future. I love nature pictures. I want to learn how to take better pictures.
