Same here. I’ve got over 300 login password combinations stored in Dashlane and Chrome. I need to do some weeding.

I use Dashlane. It integrates with my browser of choice and automatically suggests the login and password for each site as I visit. There is only one Master Password to remember and you only need it if you open Dashlane, which I only do to access the password generator.

Or you could use Chrome and let Google remember them.

The problem with the cloud is dodgy Internet access can upset that plan. On my Alaska trip last year that’s exactly what happened. The Internet was so slow that the upload wouldn’t finish by morning. So I fell back to using the laptop drive and an external hard drive. They were both in my carry on bag and never left my side except when out on excursions.

13 is our lucky number too. Wife born on the 13th, which was a Friday and several positive events in our lives have been on the 13th.

Jones, when you shoot your slides, as you recommend, is the original EXIF data retained or is the data now from the shot? The reason for asking is that I have a zillion slides as well as a lot of film to copy and am leaning toward your recommendation.
Gracias

Norm

The EXIF data would be from the DSLR shot of the slide.

You could always shoot a copy with your DSLR. Depending on what model you have, you could use one of the slide duplicator attachments, or if you have a macro lens, a good light table and tripod would allow you to copy them.

Impressed and envious at the same time.

Some of the last 283’s were low voltage. The made in Japan units were high voltage (200v) as a rule and the made in China units were generally safe (6v). But to be sure use a multimeter to check the voltage between the hot shoe button on the flash and the rail contact on the hot shoe. Be sure the flash is on and fully charged. You should also discharge the flash a few times before measuring to be sure the caps are fully charged. Mine happened to be a 6v model.

Very nice. It doesn’t hurt that the model is beautiful.

Very nice. I would say the bird spikes are not working.

Agreed. Knowing the why makes it easier to understand what your doing and why you are doing it. Just blindly following the steps makes it difficult to understand how you would apply the instructions to a different situation.

I've tried almost every brand of eye drops on the market, and the best I've found by far is a new one recommended by my ophthalmologist - Pataday Extra Strength by Alcon. You only need to use it once a day, and it's available from Amazon. At one point it required a prescription, but now it doesn't.

Hope this works as well for you as it did for me.

Can you use it with contacts?

My optometrist measures me for readers and sends me to the drug store to buy them 1.5x for my monitors and 2.5 for my iPad. The different powers take into consideration the different distances for each. My monitors are farther away than my phone & iPad.

One of these days I’m going to get a WeMacro rail and the software and start doing this. It intrigues me more than any other facet of photography.

I am in awe of your skills, and lay kudos at your feet.

I have dry eyes to begin with and my job requires me to look at dual large screen monitors all day. My eye doctor prescribed some drops for the dry eyes, but told me to blink more frequently, use OTC lubricating drops throughout the day and most importantly look away from the screen for a few minutes every 20 minutes.

The drops she prescribed can only be used twice a day and have to be instilled when my contacts are out. For lubrication, I use Blink, Refresh, Systane or any of the dozens of other lubricant drops out there. I steer clear of Vizine and other red eye drops.
