I use two A7Rii and I really like them. When A7riii was released there was not much difference between them. The recent firmware updates for the A7Riii offer whole lot more than what the A7Rii will be able to offer. While Sony has not forgotten about the A7Rii and more firmware updates may happen for it, it has the first generation Bionx processor and has some limitations compared to the second generation Bionx processor of the A7Riii. The other difference is that you can get apps for the A7Rii and the A7Riii is not capable of using apps. You have to decide if paying more for the A7Riii is worth it.

This video the best explanation of Sony adapters. The key point is that what adapter you need is determined by the lens, not the camera.

Another consideration is to use a CPL with a VND. I find this set up to work well for landscapes and waterfalls.

Speaking of Portland, Oregon...the stores are: Pro Photo as mentioned, The Shutterbug, Advance Camera, and Blue Moon.. I prefer The Shutterbug as they will talk with you. Blue Moon Camera and Machine in St John's area is like a camera museum, they also only do film. They are worth a visit then go to Cathedral Park to get pics of the St John's Bridge. Advance Camera in Beaverton is also a good place.

My suspicion is that it's the iris blades of the lens. The light is hitting them and reflecting back to the inner surface of the filter. Then, reflecting off that surface and going into the camera.

Are you shooting directly into a light source?

Bob is correct. One reason it is happening is because of the space between the front of the lens to the filter. 3 step up rings is a lot of space.

I had this discussion with a person on FB yesterday and I was told that I had my head in the sand did not know what I was talking about. They used wildlife photographers using crop sensors as support for their conclusion. Some people do not like facts.

Sony bought Minolta, so Sony is the current manifestation of Minolta (if you allow that broad generalization).

The a7ii is a good camera. As to its size, the a7 line fit my hand well. If you desire more of a grip there is an extender that you can get.

I am thinking you have turned on the burst mode with one shot focusing. Check the burst mode to make sure it is off. Check the focus setting and set it to continuous. Check metering mode and consider using flexible spot expanded.

Minolta made good AF lenses. I like the "Beercan" (70-210mm) and the "mini-beercan" (35-70mm). However, for my FE camera I prefer Sony G or GM glass. I have the LA-EA 3 and 4 adaptors and will use Minolta AF lenses at times.

I have heard that Sony manufactured sensors are in most cell phones, not just Sony cell phones.

There are a lot of myths about suicide. My calls, both intervention and postvention, are more frequent during spring than other seasons of the year. I work as a police chaplain and with a crisis line. The psyche is often not seen nor identified. Some things you may not think are indications that a person may be considering suicide are losing housing, making plans for their pets to be taken care of, and giving away valued personal items. You get some training if you want to be able to help people who are suicidal or have experienced suicide in their family or friends.
